So Christie's Now a RINO

labrea_gwNovember 20, 2012

I only know what I read!

On Monday's edition of Fox News The Five, the show's more conservative hosts went after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie for his appearance this past weekend on Saturday Night Live while his home state continues to suffer the effects of Hurricane Sandy.

Co-host Eric Bolling began the segment decrying "RINOs" (Republicans In Name Only). He specifically targeted Christie, who "acted like a Democrat" with his "slobbering wet kiss to Obama days before the election" in addition to his recent appearance on SNL "while Jersey suffers from power outages, destroyed homes, and massive job losses."

What a loathsome pack of piranha's who are they shilling for in 2016?

The storm Sandy turned Christie into a moderated Republican more interested in solving the many problems than in espousing tea-party rhetoric and behaving in strictly partisan ways. Good on him!

This is hysterical! Talk about eating your own.

I am no Christie fan. However, he's done an excellent job of handing this disaster.

This just cracks me up (from the link):
By going on SNL and engaging with popular culture, "you are a Republican, but you are acting like a Democrat."

Oh, heaven forbid they should try to engage with popular culture! Ligten up people. He was funny! He poked fun at himself. I know, that's very un-Republican.

And so he will be criticized for doing what he was elected to do -- act in the best interests of NJ residents.

Christie will end up being representative of the new conservatives that must emerge if the Republican party wants to keep power in the house and ever regain the WH or Senate.

Only moderates like Chris Christie and Christine Todd Whitman have a chance to get elected governor in my very blue state of NJ - and even then only after a terrible Democratic governor . Believe me Bogota mayor Steve Lonegan was by far the most conservative in the last governor's primary , not Christie . Governor Christie is probably much too moderate for the republican base of today to nominate . Too bad because with Jon Huntsman , Ron Paul , and Gary Johnson in this last election they are dismissing the very best of that party for far right stuck in the past ideologies that are way out of touch with modern America .

It's stunning how tone-deaf these people are. And depressing to think that some of them are business leaders. We are going to hell in a hand-basket with their leadership.

Governor Christie has stepped up as the leader of all the citizens of New Jersey after a disaster that left horrific death and destruction.

If these people want him to play partisan games at a time like this, they are badly misinformed about the role of government in the lives of it's citizens.

I hope the voters of New Jersey remember this at the next election. If not, they will need to be reminded that Governor Christie was apparently the only Republican friend they had after Hurricane Sandy.

The Republicans have a tendency to eat their own. Leave them alone long enough, there might not be any left.

Christie did what republican reps have not been willing to do, he worked hard earning the paycheck by working for the people of his state in a big way.

He has worked hard doing, not refusing or trying to undo. He produces.

The Republican reps on the hill could learn from Christie, but I suspect that Christie scares them. He is being embraced as a great republican by his people - and yet is not playing their game and doesn't even care if they don't like it and publically says so. Good for him!

Hopefully, he is but the fist of many conservative politicians who will break away from the approved lock step march of the politicians of conservatives.

So many with tunnel vision and so utterly out of touch, they still don't grasp that things are now different, this is not only a new century, but a new people in it and we are already in the second decade of it.

They, and their supporters are likely to be left behind because they refuse to climb on board.

Lighten up you say...this country is going to hell. Thousands more will lose their jobs, taxes are rising and the elderly will be denied health care..make no mistake about it...there will be testing for medicare upcoming and your home and the amount of equity you have in it will be the determining factor as to whether you get it or not. SO please forgive me if I can't "lighten up".:
The Republicans may have lost the election, but the Democrats are on their way to losing the house in two years. For that I can be very grateful.

With the Fake News zealots after Christie as a traitor no way he wins the nomination of the far right base . Of course that party could move away from their misogynist , gay bashing , war mongering , give all the breaks to the ultra wealthy platform . Yeah like that is going to ever happen ! The fact that Paul , Huntsman , and Johnson were all but ignored during the primary does not bode well for a moderate like Chris Christie . He has appeal to moderate independents but rest assured the democrats dislike him in NJ too - especially the NJEA , teachers, and their families !

Even if this were true (and I don't believe it is), what does that have to do with Christie going on SNL and appreciating the federal government's help during the disaster? What are you saying? Christie should have said screw you to the President? Shouldn't have gone on SNL because...? You totally lost me.

Back to the Topic start your own topic Brighton you been around here long enough!

"When you guys ask me questions, Im going to answer them directly, straightly, bluntly, and nobody in New Jersey is going to have to wonder where I am on an issue," he said a year ago, adding: "I think theyve had enough of politicians who make them wonder They make them wonder so they got an escape hatch. So they have an escape hatch. And Im not interested in an escape hatch."
Right now he's shying away from the gotcha question of CREATIONSIM.
Marco Rubio "I'm not a Scientist" (don't want to annoy either side)
Chris Christie has suggested his thoughts on the subject are private & that states should decide to teach Creationsim or not.
Balkinizing Education!

Since Nixon went on Laugh In and said "sock it to me", presidents have gone on TV comedy shows. >Bright, in your dreams the GOP will take the Senate, unless they're planning a nefarious plot we don't know about. The more the public sees what the teabggers have done or are planning to do, the more likely this will never happen. You ARE kidding that Christie is well loved by the GOP? The right wing Christians didn't vote for Romney because he was too moderate.Christie is pro life and has other progressive views which will not fly with the wingnut crowd.

Yeah, sure, brighton. We know all about those "talk radio stations"--the rightwing/t-partier rabble-mongers bellowing End of the World coming because Obama got elected by an Electoral landslide!

We understand--you do not trust the American democratic/electoral system. However, we believe in the American system and believe that President Obama will be a good president. Fortunately, we do not allow our minds to be warped by "talk radio stations"--a polite term for the rabid right.

I heard it being talked about on a 'talk radio station".

Is shat the same as "I got it in an email from whomever, that got it in an email from, who got it in an email from, who got it in an email from, etc. etc. etc. so it must be true"

AND,

"all those websites that debunk this stuff is lies are nothing more than liberal, ultra liberal hacks that are liars."

and that doesn't include all the lies about Obama that have continued to circulate for more than 4 years by the right wing idiocy?

You can find more about it on the internet..it's all out there.

And is this because "if it's on the web, it has to be true" bit?

OR

It's true if I found it, saw it, red it on some right wing outlandish, absurd, maybe even hate group organizations website?

Good grief brightonborn, I"m sure we have told you many times before, check your facts from reputable and reliable sources before you fall for the lies of the right wing propaganda machines.

Does this mean that there is no left-wing talk radio, or that ALL talk radio, regardless of political persuasion, is BS? In light of these 2 posts, I'm wondering.

Also wondering about Kate's post "a polite term for the rabid right." Is this a blanket snark directed to all on the right, or only the ones with rabies?

If it's acceptable (polite) to use that term "rabid right" is it okay to say something like "looneytune left"?

Back to the OP. Christie will not even win the primary running as a Republican. The crazy right will not accept someone that will not hold to their crazy standards.

He appointed a Muslim judge and he has kissed Obama. They will never forget and if a few voters forget his opponents will not forget to make a political ad showing him standing near Obama.

As much as the crazies hate Obama and with 4 more years of failed faux anger agendas they will be ready to chew their arms off before they will pull the lever for the RINO that kissed Obama.

Don't forget Huntsman he accepted a position in the Obama Administration. They picked Romney a Mormon they hate Muslims more than the Mormons.

elvis, most people know that talk radio is overwhelmingly dominated by the right-wing extremists. It is difficult to find a left-leaning talk radio host. That is why I dismissed most talk radio as worthless.

I have no idea if all the rightwingers are rabid. I was addressing the ones that are. But if you insist that all or most rightwingers fall into the rabid category, I'll take you word for it.

You need to quit being so sensitive. "Rabid right" refers to those on the right who are rabid. You ought to quit overreacting and mistakenly reading qualified terms as though no qualification was included. It will just get your blood pressure needlessly rising.

Name-calling those to the left of the right-wingers? Happens regularly on this forum. You haven't noticed? Just check out how our president is frequently disparaged and put down by those on the right.

I see that the conservatives can articulate our President's failures without calling him names.

He is put down for his failures and incompetence in certain areas, and his socialist leaning agenda, but I don't see anyone referring to him in the equivalence of "rabid right"
and using the names that Romney and other conservatives have been called by liberals.

I suspect that the the more extreme conservative elements of the Republican party will lose their influence and the party will move back to it's true fiscally conservative , more moderate center.

Several senior Republicans who signed the"Norquist pledge" have recanted it and many of the newly elected Republicans refused to sign it. The Tea Party is losing it's influence and the moderates are talking compromise.

By 2016 I think you will see a different Republican Party from what has evolved over the last few years and men like Christie will become viable candidates.

Quite frankly they don't have a choice if they ever want to regain the WH.

Chase I would agree but there is a industry that is making lots and lots of money. Murdock has not invested heavily in TV and print media to allow the money to dry up. Scandal sales even man made fantasy anger agenda of the day.

They have their boogeyman for 4 more years and they will use it to the fullest to line their pockets. The southern strategy is alive and well.

Conservative columnist David Frum had some choice words on Morning Joe for the industry that has swelled to basically steal money from republican voters.

Republicans have been fleeced, exploited and lied to by a conservative entertainment complex...there are too many to name. Because the followers, the donors and the activists are so mistaken about the nature of the problems the country faces...just a simple question, and I went to Tea Party rallies and asked this question, have taxes gone up or down in recent years? They can't answer this question.

Frum declined to name names but he's more forthright in his ebook, Why Romney Lost. Frum is scathing in his criticism of the usual suspects (Fox News, Rush Limbaugh & talk radio, and many many more charlatans).

How could I have been so blindly led?

Let's see. If a great number of conservatives decide to "join up", just what would happen to the Democratic party? Major alterations, I suspect. :D

Let's face it, elvis. I don't understand half of what you say and you don't understand half of what I say. Let's leave it at that--I really hate arguing over those petty little details and having to post several messages to try to get it straightened out--when it didn't much matter in the first place.

What do I mean by the rabid right on talk radio? Try the Rush Limbaughs and the Glenn Becks and such types who proliferate on talk radio -- it is generally accepted by nearly all listeners that those types are overwhelmingly abundant on talk radio and that there are very few left-leaning radio hosts.

I don't know why this is news to you. Everybody else has been making remarks about it for at least several years now. At any rate, please quit taking my comments in the PLURAL as attacks on you in particular--because if you read them that way, you are definitely over-reacting and mis-interpreting as a result.

Don't know how to say it any clearer than that. Maybe you think my people skills are lacking--in which case, quit over-reacting to what I say. On the other hands, I never viewed HT as a place where we all get together and play nicey, nicey. If you want to, play it with some other posters who also want to.
