A Record and not for the Dow

labrea_gwNovember 21, 2013

Oct 24 there were no baseball game throngs, no major events going on just a nice day & the NYC Subway scored a record.
5,985,311 fares in one day.
Last year the System recorded
1.65 billion rides I can't imagine what this would be like if all those people decided they needed cars to get around.
Take your best shots!

The all electric buses are being tested now and will eventually replace the hybrids that have been on the streets for a few years.
The record fares represented subway only!

Your subway is a work of genius, and the work of a very very farsighted early new York Government?

Sorry, labrea; I thought I had posted this earlier. Just wanted to say that I've never been to NYC, but DH and I were really impressed with the public transport (electric) in Paris and London. I imagine it must be similar. Growing up in Chicago, that's all we used, and it was very, very good. I don't understand how large metro areas can function without it.

Here in the Bay Area, we're jealous. Will we ever see Bart?
