Ok, Game Time again! The prize for this round will be for a division of Stoplight Foamy Bells Heucherella!
Question: Who is my favorite Food Network Host and what is the name of their show? Spelling counts! LOL!
Only 1 guess per customer!
Here is a link that might be useful: heucherella stoplight
I'm gonna say Paula Deen cuz she's MY fave... hoping to go eat at her restauraunt next Summer !! yummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Wendy, I do loooove Paula Deen! I wish I could crawl through the tv and hang out in her kitchen with her but no she's not my favorite!
I am going to say Alton Brown although I know its wrong lol.
Great question Ducky!!!
just a q?.. where'd the Ducky nic come from? I missed somethin' somewhere..lol
Pixie, you're right, It is Alton Brown now which show is it?
Wendy, Trina has been calling me ducky ever since she sent a red devil rubber duck to me last October in the MNF Swap. We've been joking about it ever since. If I get out of hand she likes to call me her ducky devil. She is such a nut!
I love that show!
Tracy thanks for posting another game, I did glance over the posts on the other thread but I don't have time to respond to every one. Looks like you all have been having a great time and I'm so glad we extended this swap, more fun that way. I still don't have your box ready, although I could have, but figured we didn't need to rush now, so I'm hoping you don't rush either. lol We're going to the other house again this coming weekend and I saw this antique store I want to pop into and didn't have a chance , so I want to wait until I get back from there before packing your box:) I wasn't expecting to leave last weekend but J decided on Sat morning he wanted to go (I think he just needed to get away) so we did and it seemed to help. Then we get back and SonIL's gram passed and I've just been busy, lol, whats new about that huh? Someone please help me do the countdown till the 1st, I'm so glad I'll never see August, 2008 again!!!!!!! (Well, I'll admit to that on Sept. 1st so shushhhhhhh But the good news is I've been keeping my little sweet thang! Lord that child keeps me on the run! I'm soooo tired! But its a good tired.
Annie I hope you're able to get on GW before long, I had that happen a few weeks ago, nothing to do with logging in, I just couldn't get it to load for me. It will straighten out shortly I'm sure.
All of you that I owe emails to, I promise to get to them soon, its hard to play on the computer when Kenzie is here anymore. Shes down for the night hopefully, so MeMaws trying to catch up!
I did want to mention, Wendy/Sassy ......so glad to see you back around! I missed you sweetie!
Love and hugs
Tracy, I think I may be ok:) But need to go to bed.
Vic, YES! It is Good Eats! Alton is so dang smart I want to smack him sometimes but I love how he makes so many dishes that I have pondered about the why's and what for's and there he goes telling us how, why and what and it all makes good sense! lol!
Trina I have your addy and will be mailing out your heucherella.
Vic I think I still have yours but will email you if I can't find it.
Sassy, I'm glad you are taking your time on the box. I sure am dilly dallying with yours. I still have some lookie looing to do for it! I keep thinking of this and that and need to get myself organized!
I'm sorry to hear about SIL's gram. I will keep him and his family in my prayers.
I love antique shops! That and going garage saling! I haven't gone at all this summer. Where'd the time go? I love making a good find!
Get some rest sweetie! Keep smiling!
lol wow I KNEW I should have posted the name of the show also lmao! Great Job Vic!! I love that show also, Alton is my favorite also and I go to sleep with him several nights a week. (OK while watching his show I mean in the wee hours of the night when I can't sleep only I have to write down things while watching lol like ways to cook things etc.)
Wendy, Tracy is ma Devil Ducky, ya gotta watch her cause sometimes she will Quack ya!! lol, and just to correct Ducky here.... I AINT NO NUT!!! I is a PECAN!!! lol
WHOOOHOOO see I can pay attention sometimes!!!
Sassers you recoup and take care of yourself and yours girlie girl and give that beautiful Kenzie a big bunch of smooches from me!
PS. Ducky, I'll email ya before ya send anything ok?
YIPEE!! I WON!!
And that is one beauty of a plant too!!
I like him too, I was in watching it and decided to come see if I could get on GW and see if I won!!
Ok, off to bed
Ok, You girls had me worried. I got Vic's and Sassy's emails this morning telling me they couldn't log on. Sorry I didn't check my emails last night girls! Had my head in the clouds again. :o)
Pecan, you still aren't ready for plants then? I will wait until you email me. I still have your dl's here in pots too so will send the heuchera with those when you're ready. Yep, I quack occasionally. One more reason that I am shocked that no one has ever asked about it before. Wonder what they all think?! LOL!
Vic, you are sooo welcome! The heucherella like a bit of shade throughout the day. My heuchera and heucherella are all mostly in dappled shade all day long. They do get some stiff breezes most days so will tolerate some of your windy conditions.
Tracy, I'm glad they can take some wind! Yesterday was a beautiful day out, in the low 80's, BUT we were getting like 50-60mph wind! Not much you can do outside when you are being pelted with clay dust at those speeds! In MI wind like that would mean one heck of a storm with lots of rain, here it just means wind! LOL
Today is supposed to be around 80 and cloudy, so far NO wind!! I hope to get more done! : )
Vic, I was just sitting here reading your post, got to where you wrote "rain" and it started sprinkling here! lol! Thanks for the rain, we need it! High of 74 for us today! Love these cooler temps. I don't think I would like the dry dust being blown in my house. I'd get pretty cranky! When we put in a new driveway at the old house a few years ago the yard was bone dry, pavement was all torn up and dust was blowing in all the time. Drove me nuts! There is nothing like cleaning the house and turning around to see brown dust everywhere. UGH!
Oh Tracy, the DUST!! it is bad here! I told Jamie to just get used to the "film" on the TV, and to think of it as a source for cutting down the glare from the sun! LOL
van broke down today... *WAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
:( Had to get it towed too, arghh.. yes I'm throwin' my own pity party here..lol
What is it about when you have no car you suddenly have a million places you WANT to go! lol
Annie, I got my Iris today!! THANK YOU! I love them!!
Wendy, I have sympathy for you!! I hate being without a car! I hope it's an easy fix.
But, if you really need to go somewhere, just put on your Warrior Princess outfit! I'm sure you will get a ride in NO TIME!!! ROFLOL
Well Tracy it looks like my post actually posted anyway. lol This crazy computer. I hit send and it said...website can't be found. Oh well.
Annie I hope you're able to get back on soon.
Vic I used to live on a farm so I know all too well about wind and dust. I don't miss it.
Heres a receipe for everyone using crock pots. I haven't tried it yet but it sounds good.
Slow Cooker Baked Ziti
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion
2 tsps. dried Italian seasoning
\1/2 tsp. salt
2 jars (apx. 25 oz. each) pasta sauce
1 container (15 oz.) ricotta cheese
2 cups mozzarella cheese, divided
1 cups grated Parmesan cheese
1 box (10 oz.) ziti noodles
Cook ground beef and onions in a large skillet over medium-high
heat, stirring occasionally, until beef is no longer pink. Stir in
seasonings to evenly coat meat; stir in pasta sauce. Set aside.
Mix 1 cup mozzarella, the ricotta and parmesan in a medium bowl.
Spoon 2 cups of meat sauce into 5 - 6 qt. slow cooker. Top with 2
cups ziti. Drop half of the cheese mixture, by rounded tablespoons,
over ziti; carefully spread over ziti using back of spoon. Layer
with 2 cups meat sauce, the remaining ziti and remaining cheese.
Add remaining meat sauce, completely covering all the ziti and
cheese. Place lid on slow cooker.
Cook on LOW for 6 to 7 hours or HIGH for 4 to 5 hours or until
noodles are tender.
Carefullly remove lid to allow steam to escape. Sprinkle food with
the remaining 1 cup mozzarella; let stand 10 minutes until melted.
*throws nearest object @ Vic :P
p.s. it was a lone green m&m, lil dusty, half hidden under my keyboard..
Guess I should clean my desk huh? *grabs the pledge...
Because Wendy, you realize you CAN"T...lol. I have been there SOOOOOOOOO many times...we had both cars down at one time...it was ROUGH.lol.
Lucky you Vic... that is a nice plant too. I hate dust too, I laughed hard when you said think of it as a non-glare sheild....yeap that is what it would be too...lol.
You to Pixie, or would that be pecan from now on? hehe
Sassy, we understand you are very busy, OR tired.
Tracy girl, I finally looked at ur trade page today...hehe...u have some nice stuff girly.
Ok, off to do something else.
"ducking" Whew! I'm glad it wasn't a paper weight! "still laughing"
Wendy, I can sympathize with you. A few weeks ago hubby was out of town and the truck broke down. I had to drive 2 hours south in the middle of the night with all the kids packed in the van to go pick him up. Fun times! Maybe I should getn a Xena costume for emergencies? Might work...
Sassy, I thought that you were able to come back and post it last night after all. I am getting pretty frustrated with how goofy this site is being. So many friends have been locked out over the last month or so. They need an exterminator for all these bugs.
Vic, I am laughing at the glare guard. Yep, perfect solution for that pesky afternoon glare on the tv! Beware falling objects!
Fran, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's plant list! LOL!
Hi girls and Dan too!
My apologies for not posting sooner. I have been grumpy to say the least and just not up to it. Work woes and new home construction frustrations. *small vent* "Why do people hired to work for you not respond until you've become a ranting raving "bite-me" lunatic?" Okkkkkk...I am done now. I could use a bailey's.
I don't have time to address each of you but know that I have tried to keep up and kept those in need in my prayers.
Annie THANK YOU for the iris! It made my week to find something good to think about!
Maybe I need a warrior princess to handle some of this stuff going on here....Wendy, Vic???
I'll come swing my sword around at them Dee.. you'll just have to come pick me up first tho... broken down van and all.. LOL
Lotsa humdrums goin' around today.. hugs to everyone!
Oh dear God! Julie still to this day does the ...Zena, Warrior Princess with the sword! lol, Shes never forotten it and I haven't either! lol
I was thinking of posting a game.....hummmm
Let me think.... ok, talk to ya'll next week, lol!!!!!
Snot, don't you dare disappear for a week! LOL! Get back here!
Hi Dee! Sorry things haven't been going well lately. August is almost over and many of us will be happy to see it gone. I am saying a huge prayer that September will be much kinder to us!
Snot?? Well theres a 1st! Never been called that one before...
What was my first 'best friends' name and what did it represent? (An animal, remember I said my 1st)
KK, have fun!
Your first best friend's name... Hmmmm, thinking, thinking, thinking... you lived on a farm, um, I think your first pet's name was Babe and she was a pig!
Do you prefer booger? ROFL!
Isn't she cute?
Tracy, shes adorable, I love the smile:)
Buttt no, sorry!
Aw shucks! Ok, I gotta hit the hay. School bus comes early in the morning and need to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for the kiddos! Nighty Night!
lol sorry but ya'll have me laughin bad, I sooo sweepy, still hangin on from yesterday, was kinda conned bad and then the birthday party last night. I honestly just thought I was a drinker sheesh. My head achied, my tummy did everything in its power to well ya'll can imagine that part and I HATE cilantro (don't worry if ya don't know me then just nod your head and say yeppers we do too). Dont' know why these Texan and Mexican restaurants have to add that chit in everything sorry but for ya'll Yankees it would be called Corriander. It makes for a hardy and pretty plant but that is one thing I DON'T think you should add to food of any type!!!
Ok nuff about that, now I got sidetracked about what I really wanted to type about.
OK I know now lol
I also am hoping September brings each of us the weather we need (not necessarily what we want but what our gardens need, ok too late for mine but still)
I also hope that all of us that are having troubles that they go AWAY! (not going to jinx myself with vehicle probs but ya know what I mean)
and finally "Snot" lol (I liked that lol dang Ducky ya had guts girlie remember she lives closer to you than to me lol)
Imma gonna say your first friend was Snuggley and it represented a Kitten.
OHHH Annie, I got a wonderful surprise today in the mail, the Dauntless and Time Traveler Iris' today, thank you soo much they arrived soo healthy and green!! Thank you!!
Well I have not a clue what your first bestest friend might have been.
Guess: I will say a kitty, named kitty. You did say your 1st, well.
BUT tracy, those plants are so umm, LUSTFULL its hardeth not to coveth thine neighbors list...lol
Sassy ~ I'm gonna guess 'Spunky' cuz that's the closest I could find in my 'research'..lol and that was from an olddd RR post of coming up with porn names. I'll let YOU elaborate on that one! lol
Pixie ~ did you get my responding email? Thanks hon..
Tracy ~ I need a towel after drooling all over my keyboard from looking at your list. :P
Trina-I'm with you on the Celantro...Love Mexican food but not that herb. Yuck!!
Sassy-Glad you were able to log on. I had a hard time about a month ago. I could get to the site but not post. I'm guessing that you had a cat with the name 'Josie' for Josie and the Pussycats.
Wendy-Sorry about your van. We drive old cars and I'm always concerned that one of the will break down.
Dee-Good to see you post. Take care of yourself.
Our well is leaking....We have someone coming out this week, hopefully, to dig it up and replace a pipe. The well is between my Azaleas and a bed of Hostas. They have to bring in a small backhoe to do the job. It seems that things like this are never ending.
Wendy I can't believe you researched, lol. Jeeez, I can't even remember ever speaking of my cute little Spunky, and porn names??? I have no clue what you're talking about, but I'm sure cracking up right now! You need to email me that post, I gotta figure out what you're talking about. lol
Up the thread you'll see pics of 3 iris, you can choose one if you like those, I think they are on this thread.
Trina/Mariann I'm with you, love mexican food but can't stand that stuff. Mariann I'm going to try my best to email you later tonight, if not I will when I get back, I promise. lol I know it will be a book so be prepared! I'm so behind on emails:(
Dee it was so good to talk to ya last girl!
lol ok Sassy I'll see if I can locate the link to it, it was funny as H-E-double L. You girls were REALLY wild on those older posts! whooooooooooooo
I found the Iris pics on the older posts of this swap. I am so in love.. I would love love LOVE the Hemstitched Iris. That is GORGEOUSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!
Mariann I feel for ya girl.. are you gonna be digging up plants tomorrow? *HUGS*
WELL now the shop has called and they're not SURE it's the transmission or not... leave it to me to have an oddball van that they can't fig out what the heck the problem is. Altho if it's not the transmission, I'd be very very happy!
It looks like we will be moving into my mom's old house... to be continued..
Just poppin in to let Trina know that her box went out yesterday. It has a dc#, but I don't have it around the computer at the moment. I hope you like everything!
You all take care and have fun!
Wendy, you really need to post that link! I am dying from curiousity now! Can't believe that our own little Sassy pants could ever get rowdy! Hee hee hee hee! Nope, can't imagine it.
I finally got back on! They downloaded a different internet browser, and it worked so here I am.
You guys don't know how glad I am that everyone received their iris
Margaret,I'm sorry to hear about our little Buffy and I'm thrilled you like the iris. I do have another box I'm starting for you.
Sassy, Sorry to hear about your SIL"s Gram, My thoughts and prayers are with their family
Speaking of Alton, I love his show, and do watch it on my breaks during the night.
Mariann, sorry to hear about your well. I hope they get it fixed soon.
Wendy, Hope you vehicle is not too expensive to fix.
If I've missed anyone,it was not intentional,
Congrats on everyone winning prizes.
Ok, I'm not for sure what I will send, but I've got a collection of Shelby's toys, One of them I've got a bunch of them out of the same group. What is it?
LIFE IS GOOD,
Annie, I don't know sweetie, but I'll go research right now! lol Not!
Wendy please know I'm kidding! And Tracy, you lookin' for a SHOWDOWN! I'll sick the Iron Chef on your a@@! How bout dem taters! lol
Annie I have no clue about the toys, but I have a question, do you still cross-stitch? And any others out there that still cross-stitch? My point is..............
I have lots and lots and lots of cross-stitch magazines, etc, you name it. Was just curious if anyone wanted them since I can't see to do it anymore:( Noe of my magazines are hardly touched. I always bought one to look at and one to work from. If that makes any sense, lol.
Seriously Annie I started to send you a box of cross-stitching magazines one time, I still might:)
Your going to iron my a@@? Thank you! It needs a good smoothing out! LOL! Tee hee! No creases though, K?
lol @ Tracy!
Annie I sent you an email w/ my address, plmk if you got it? Glad you finally got to get back on here!
ahem Sassypants! I know ur kiddin' silly.. but just goes to show to what lengths some semi-newbies (like me..) will go to just to get a free plant or two! LOL I had fun tho, but Tracy, Sassy will have to let you know the link, I emailed it to her earlier tonight. Either that or go RESEARCH! :P
I used to cross-stitch about 15 years ago.. lord I'm gettin' old.. but I'm too blind to stare long enough at lil x's for any length of time now :P I'd rather stare at teeny tiny itty bitty lil seeds apparently :)
Wendy, can't believe you are making me search for myself. I'll fix your wagon and keep your plant for myself! Ha ha! You can't have it, I'm gonna keep it, na na na boo boo, stick your head in doo doo! (big cheesy grin on my face!)
I did a google search! Ha ha! I can't believe that thread! OMG! ROFLOL! hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
Sassy, very interesting reading over there. First name Spunky, Last name Dogwood? ROFL! AA Batteries? UH HUH!
I have ALL weekend to get over the embarrassment:(
Hi Vicky, well it is "the end of the month!!!
I will be mailing your package today. I started it in Colorado and finished it in MD. This has been a crazy month and it's not over yet.
Sorry I have not been able to keep up but life has taken some directions that I didn't really expect. Guess that makes it an adventure. No real problems but interesting.
I'll post DC # tomorrow.
Hey Tracy, now it would be Spunky Powers! lol
Hope you all have a great holiday weekend and be safe:)
I'll be back Monday night.
Sassy, have a great trip and enjoy your holiday weekend. I hope you have lots of fun. Spunky Powers, hmmmm, I think I like that even better. You could be Austi Powers sidekick. :o)
Beth, it's good to see you. I hope all is well. Don't worry, we've extended the exchange through September too since we've been having so much fun. We've been playing games and chatting about food and everything else under the sun.
Annie, I'm so glad you can post again! I will guess that Shelby's playset is from He-Man. My cousin is close to his age and when I babysat for him that was his favorite set of toys. He-man and Skeletor (sp?). I always had to be the bad guy. lol!
Mariann, I hope the well project is coming along nicely with no unpleasant surprises. We have a well here and it makes me nervous that something might go wrong with it. I was brought up in the city and had no experience with them until now. Just a city girl on city water. Now we have pumps, softeners, filters and all sorts of do-dads to worry about.
Hey all. Hope everyone has a good weekend/holiday.
We as usual aren't doing ANYTHING EVER...I have no life :(.
ANYWAY, glad everything is getting back in order for everyone.
I am going to guess Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles cuz that is what my kids were crazy over. Although, Tracy mentioned He-man and Skeltelor, althought I am not sure what his age is, I am thinking those came out when I was a kiddish. I am so new to this group I am so clueless, I am sure the ages of most everyone's kiddies have been mentioned somewhere before I joined in.
Wendy girl, I like winning but I ain't gonna search to do it...lol, ALTHOUGH I HAVE done it, I just didn't yeild any results so I ain't gonna any more....lol.
Ok, Well, if I don't post again today then everyone enjoy your day!
whhoooops Sorry Sassy! I didn't mean to cause so much ruckus! lol *hugssssssssss If ya'll don't leave her alone I'm never gonna get my Iris! :) I happen to think she's way cool, sweet AND sassy!
OMG Tracy, you are right. Shelby is 29, and yes, I've saved a lot of his things, I don't know why, I just did. I am home now and I will add a Beverly Sills to your package for the prize.
I'm going to take a nap, I say nap because I don't want to sleep so much that I don't sleep tonight. Tomorrow I'm leaving to go to an iris sale! :O) :O)
For another start of Dauntless tell me what else I saved that belonged to him, and yes, Shelby thinks I'm crazy. I don't know what he will do with all of his stuff when I'm gone, I imagine the only thing he would save is my christmas ornament collection that I've collected for 35+ years.
Here is what she looks like

Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.hearthstone-legacy.com/servlet/the-90/Dauntless/Detail
The well is done!! It only took them 2 hours and they had a little backhoe. Didn't even touch my Azaleas or Hostas. I was going to ask them to dig up a bed for me but my DH said at $150 an hour it's way to expensive. I guess he's right LOL Anyway the pipe leading to the house had a leak. Both my DH and I held our breath when we got the bill. It turned out to be a lot less than we thought and he's letting us pay it off.
I hope everyone has a great weekend,
Pixie, what an awesome box that was from Karen! I love that raspberry pixie dl! The color is amazing! She must have been paying attention to your non-chocolate addiction! LOL! Only female I know who doesn't get hit hard with the hankering for some good chocolate! LOL!
Annie, I'm right?! LOL! That was a wild guess. I just kept thinking about my cousins favorite toys and there it was! Thank you so much for the Beverly Sills Iris. It is so lovely! I love old fashioned Christmas Ornaments. My mom has saved all the ones that my brother and I made in school over the years. My favorite one is an owl made of a walnut and felt with the googly eyes. Silly and simple but so cute.
I will refrain from guessing on this one to give one of the other girls a chance to win this round. The next game is mine to host so you can have a chance at winning something for a change. I felt terrible that you couldn't log on to GW for the last 2!
I hope everyone is having a nice friday. I got some weeding done this afternoon since the ground was still soft from our last rainfall. Got tons of laundry done and then grilled pork chops outside before the next storm hit. We had a whopper of a lightning storm. Still have power! Yay!
Vicky, here is your DC #0306 0320 0002 1222 4593
Hope you enjoy it though I confess there is NOTHING plantable in there.
Soon Ishould be resettled and able to catch up on posts.
Mariann, the costs for home repairs is a scary topic. I looked at a Small house for sale that needs a new roof. When I got a bid for a new roof it was obvious why the current owner did not do it before the sale. It was $26,000.
Sounds like you did well with the well repair.
I was planning on mailing yours yesterday but I've caught Zacks crud and have had a horrible sinus headache for 2 days, btwn that and him not sleeping well b/c of the croupy cough.........
Also, I found the perfect book, but of course it was before we discussed what types of cooking we do and now I can't find it ANYWHERE!! GRRRR!!!
Do any of you use an online fax program?? If so can you tell me which one? I am trying to get a fax program set up, I have satellite internet so we don't have a home ph line to just plug a fax machine in. I am having a hard time finding an online one that works! If I go somewhere and fax stuff it is $2 the 1st pg and $1 every other pg. and when I'm faxing it is usually 10 or more pgs.......
Vic ~ I used to use efax, I never had any issues at all with it and they have all different plans. I think I had the most basic one and it fulfilled all my needs and I worked from home at the time.. haven't used it in about 3yrs tho so I dunno what their status is at that time.. but couldn't hurt to check it out!
I'm trying out the 3rd company for online faxing! The last one I just used is having issues, I am supposed to be able to send several diff file types (doc, pdf, bmp, tiff, etc) but they are having a problem and can only send pdf right now, which of course is not what I need to send, she sent me to an online site to convert my doc to pdf for free, but of course it's too big a file and they won't do it unless I buy the program and you pay per MB or something! I'm not paying for fax and conversion! : (
THEN the woman tried to get me to pay 6 mos in advance and I would get a free month, I told her I wasn't paying for something that doesn't work!
Of all things, it's for a job I'm trying to fax this for! And IF I get the job I have to have a home fax so I don't want to just go somewhere and fax it.......
*feeling my neck and shoulders tightening and a HA setting in!*
Maybe I'll go visit Linda at MNF and have her put a splash of Baileys in my coffee! LOL
Vic, I wish I knew something about satellite systems but I don't. Does your Pc Operating system have a fax program? If it has one, do you want to try to do a sample test to me? Email me and we'll see if it comes through. I just need to turn it on first.
Yes it has a fax program but it evidently only works it you are plugged into a ph line which I don't have. Out here satellite was cheaper than a land line.
Vic ~ my resident computer geek here says to download a free program called 'Primo PDF' and it will for free convert just about anything to a pdf file, then you should be able to use the fax program you were using. Maybe this will help? lol
Wendy, could you just send him over here to set it up for me?! I have beer in the frig, and Jamacian Rum! (yes that is a bribe!) LOL
I hope it is working for you vic, I sent one after I got your email when I got back from the store. It won't let me cancel it for some reason so it may just come through anyway. It wasn't able to complete the first time and is automatically trying to resend. Sorry!
LOL I had trouble gettin' up off the comfy chair to go to Home Depot.. much less me gettin' him to go across country lol.
He does work hard all week, so I can't complain. (much) lol :)
Wendy, please tell the Geek I said THANK YOU!! That worked great, the online pdf converter I found would only let me do up to 2mb and this was much larger than that, and to do a larger file they charged to download it! (of course, I had already went and re-scanned all of it and saved it to pdf format lol) But, this will work next time!
Tracy, hmmmm, I have not gotten a fax from you yet, I did send one to myself to see if it would work and it did......
I'll check in a bit and let ya know.
Well, off to put cranky butt down for a nap and hopefully get rid of this pounding HA.
I'm afraid I wouldn't be of any help in the fax/computer dept.! I hope you got it all figured out!
Pixie, I'm so glad you liked the cookbooks! I so worried about them! The raspberry pixie is a very nice color. Mine will bloom next year for the first time also. Mine is also a small division, but hopefully they will flourish for us!
Well, I need to get a bit of a head start on supper, so I hope everyone has a nice weekend! (incase I don't get back on here, still have a painting project, my kitchen, to finish in the next two days)
Vic,it quit after 3 attempts so you can stop looking for it. Sorry it didn't go through. Not sure what the problem was. I may have to do a test back to myself to see if it is on my end. Glad it is working good for you and you found the program Wendy's dh recommended! Yay! Life is good.
Well Tracy, maybe you did cancel it? It didn't come through....
oh Vic I'm so glad it worked (or will work next time!) lol He's just grinning with an 'I told you so'...lol He is exceptionally good with anything computer related, I was so lucky to find him! lol I hope you all feel better soon!!
Hey vic, nope it automatically cancels itself after 3 failed attempts. I will play with it tomorrow to see if there is a bug in it or something. I hope you feel better. I have been dealing with ugly headaches for the last 3 days. Allergies. Ugh! I hope Zach has a good sleep tonight so you can get a good snooze in too.
Wendy, give that man a squeeze and tell him good job! Then wipe that silly grin off his face. LOL!
Annie, since nobody else put in any guesses yet I am going to go with my cousin's other favorite thing and that was Ghost Busters action figures. He was totally nuts over that movie.
Annie, I'm guessing match box cars.......
Tracy, I didn't see your post that you cancelled it when I posted earlier.....
Beth, this is odd, I checked the dc# and it said it was processed and left the billings po today....I haven't gotten it yet, when I looked at the details it said processed at 8:46pm, so I'm guessing it is in the stack of mail to be delivered next week. I am going to worry all weekend now until I get it, I had a sub mail carrier leave a box of plants ontop of my mailbox one day (we have a row of boxes out at the end of the sub) someone stole it!! But, I think after all the ranting I did they know not to leave anything now! When I call the po and give my name or address they say oh, I remember you, and transfere me to the supervisor! lol
I just didn't want you to think it had been delivered and I didn't post it on here!
Mariann, I am so glad the repair to the well went better than expected. I love those mini excavators. That is what my dh has for digging up foundations for waterproofing and tearing out concrete. He used that to clear the area for the shade garden. It is an awesome tool.
Vic, That's what I figured. No big.
I hope everyone is having a fun Labor Day Weekend. We not doing anything special. Cooked burgers on the grill tonight and made some potato salad and corn on the cob. Love that corn! Yum!
Just stopping in to say "HI" I am finally feeling back to life a little bit now.
I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend!!
We are getting RAIN!!! It rained on and off all day yesterday and ALL night, it's still raining lightly......
Anyone have to deal with fungal gnats before?!? I seem to be getting invaded and I think it's taking out my banana plant! (oops, I said the "B" word!) I am going to pull it out of the pot and wash the roots down really well and replant in some new soil, I've read it's the larva that kill the plant, they feed on the roots! Btwn the rabbits and grasshopers outside and these little B******* inside! GRRR
Mornin' Vic, glad to see you're feeling better. I have never dealt with fungal gnats before. It sounds like you have a good plan. What do you wash the roots down with? Is it a bleach and water solution?
Good question Tracy! I don't know, I've never had this before. I was going to use a dishsoap solution, but bleach sounds better! Can I do that and not hurt the plants? How much bleach.
I did read that BT kills them, of course I can't find that anywhere and I need to do something quick, my plant got worse overnight! (plus it just gives me the creeps!)
Is it just me, or does that stupid ad at the top of the page keep expanding on everyone! It's worse than the pop-ups!
When dealing with some of the yuck that came on my hosta orders I used a 10% bleach mix with water. So 1 part bleach to 9 parts water, I know, stating the obvious! LOL! Sorry. Yes, that stupid ad is expanding every time I start to scroll down the page. Causes the page to jump on me. I have problems on the main RR page too. I'm going to start having seizures from my eyes jumping up, down and trying to focus and click! Grrrr!
Thanks Tracy, I'm going to do that, now can I "water" my plants with that too, I don't want to repot all of them.
Mmmm, I don't think I would water the plants with that solution because it will kill any of the helpful bugs and bacteria that are in the soil too. I would repot with fresh potting soil.
Vic, While in Fairbanks I had fungal gnats for a while. The sticky traps recommended by the nursery did nothing. Covering the soil with about an inch of sand did seem to work but it took some time. May not be quick enough to cure your plant.
Don't worry about the box at the PO. It is not fragile or perishable.
I'd be amazed at it reaching Billings so quickly. Hope it gets to your mailbox today.
Now, if you can wait until the end of the week I should be able to send you a Kansas address to mail to. OK?
I'm leaving my daughter's today to see friends in BAltimore then heading for the midwest.
Beth, I'm glad I checked in, I had your box all ready to go today. I thought you were going to be at your daughters all this week. But, just send me the new addy and I will hold it. : )
Thanks for the tips girls, I've had sticky traps up for a week and so far got 2 gnats that I'm sure just happened to run into them! I've heard the sand and also fish tank gravel. I have noticed that my plants with little pebbles on top of the soil are not having a problem.
But, I think the main issue with the banana plant was overwatering and started causing root rot! When I dug it up it didn't have very many roots on it, the ones on it look good and healthy, but the "bulb" has a spot that is soft, I let it set out in the air all day with the roots on a damp paper towel and potted it in very lightly damp soil with more perilite for drainage and a pot that has better drainage, it is looking pretty sad tho... : (
It is very odd for me, usually my plants die from dehydration! I was trying to be very vigilant at watering! LOL
I've read lots of info on the gnats like to water with very hot, not boiling water, and of course, cut back on watering! One thing I know for sure is that they can spread from one plant to another very quick!! ICK!
Vic, I'm one of those over watering sorts. I have a hard time leaving the houseplants alone. I have killed more plants by being too nice to them than I care to count. Deb sent me a bunch of hoya and pothos that love to be neglected. I am retraining myself to leave them alone! lol! So far so good, they are all alive and healthy! Yay me! lol!
I am going to be mailing out my prize boxes tomorrow so Fran could you send me your address. I never received an email from you so it may have gone to the wild blue wander through GW mail.
Nope Tracy, I'm a slacker...LOL sorry, I have been working on the other project and really just forgot you asked me for my addy...I'm really sorry hon.
I will do that right now while I am thinking about it.
I also have a question for you I will remember to send that too.
Fran, I got your email and now you have mail! :O) Sorting through seed box. Wondering why the heck I haven't organized it sooner! ARGH!
Vic, your prize box is on it's way. DC# 0103 8555 7494 1311 4575
Fran, Your prize box is on it's way too now! DC# 0103 8555 7493 4042 3405
Sassypants! Are you home yet? Did you fall in the ocean? Where'd you go sister?! LOL!
Annie, is everything ok or are you back at work already? It has gotten too quiet without you. :o)
Good Afternoon Everyone!
I'm back from the holiday, and a hot one it was. I did fine me a few iris I didn't have. I also found myself a cookbook I liked and of course had to get one for Margaret too.
We are getting rain, but I will start packing prize boxes and get them out Friday or Saturday. I will post confirmation numbers when I do.
I've never had fungal gnats. But will look up what these little pests look like as soon as I post this.
Beth, hope you have a great trip in the Midwest. :O):O)
Vic, I'm sorry you were not feeling well. I don't have any house plants because I guess you can call me an over waterer.
Tracy, no it is not Ghost busters. I will give another hint in a few, but have to think about it awhile.
Wendy, moving in your mom's house will be great. I know it will be hard at first, but I'm sure it will bring back many happy memories.
It is raining out and this will give me a good time to go back and see who I owe what.
Be back later with another hint, and if you have what I've offered I'm sure I can offer something else.
LIFE IS GOOD,
Vic-Fungus gnats are hard to get rid of. There is a subspecies of Bt that you can use. It is Bt israelensis and it's used to kill mosquito larvae. You can buy it from Garden's Alive or you can buy Mosquito Dunks and break up part of one and soak it in water. Then use the liquid to water ratio for your plants. You'll only need a small amount. Also I would recommend using traps for the adults also. I use fly paper it's hard to work with but very inexpensive. I cut it up and clip in up to a bamboo stake with a clothes pin. Just cut up the bamboo stakes until they are short enough to fit in your pots. Also don't over water. I never had a problem until I used seed starting mix from WalMart. I've had trouble with them ever since.
You need this to help you digest your food.
We are suppose to get some of the effects of hurricane Gustav tomorrow night. I better get up early tomorrow and dig my prizes.
I think this is who I need to send to, If I'm missing something please remind me as sometime I do have a memory deficiency.( DON'T BE SHY)
Sassy - dauntless, Black Flag,
Tracy- Beverly Sills, Dark Triumph, and Hosta June
Vic - columbine and ???.
Sassybutterfly - Beverly Sills.
OK, time to fix Dinner, and I have some recepies I will share later out of the new cookbook that I bought for Margaret and Myself.
I hope everyone had as great of a weekend as I did. Relaxed, refreshed, and full of energy now! lol
I have skimmed through the posts here trying to catch up but ya know how it is, after you are gone for a couple days you can never catch up completely lol.
I am one of the over waterers also, I LOVE houseplants but all mine are outside "houseplants" because I don't have room in my house right now for them inside. Also they tend to love me better when they are outside and the weather here permits them to flourish. I can kill a cactus from overwatering trust me.
As far as the gnats, I know this is kinda bad but the way I treat the plants that get infested with them is I soak copehagen in water then pack it on top of the soil. It kills the gnats and something about tobacco helps the soil. I know it works for my plants but I also transplant the potted plants into fresh soil and add the snuff also.
Annie, you are sending me too many plants. I didn't win a June Hosta from you. I do have one here and I love it! Trina sent me some of hers early this summer and it is doing beautifully! Such a pretty little hosta. Now your next clue has me completely baffled! For the life of me I can't think of what you would have saved from Shelby's childhood that would help digest food. ROFL! The only thing coming to mind is Mylicon drops for cranky baby tummies! LOL!
Trina, I am so glad you had a nice weekend with your friends. Nothing like a little get-away to perk you right up.
So glad you girls have some good advice for Vic. I never heard of the fungal gnats before. Now what is Copehagen?
HEre is where I posted the prize for guessing my son's two favorite fruits.
Since I don't have to work tonight, lets do another game. What is my son's favorite fruit There are 2, so 2 answers=2 prizes. One of them will be a start of hosta "June", and the other will be a start of TB iris, "Dark Triumph".
These will be mailed out after the holiday.
LET THE GAME BEGIN!
Here is what Dark Triumph looks like
Here were the answers.

Ummm, I will guess Plums??? lol!
So since you already have a June......how about a guacamole :O) :O)!
LIfe is good,
Tracy, nope it is not Mylicon drops and Copenhagen is Chewing tobacco. LOL
Ok, another hint, they can come in real early or late
LIFE IS GOOD,
Tracy Thank you...I can't WAIT to get my prize/Gift...lol.
Now what is Copehagen? It's CHEW Tracy, just a pinch between your cheek and gum...bluuuaclk
Just don't use it near Tomatoes...Tobacco Mosaic Virus ;)!
Annie glad your back and had fun. I looked at some of Wally Worlds Iris today in the prepacks...all dead already, They were so bad. I didn't bother to waste anything on them.
I am stunped on that clue too...Hummm
Beth I GOT MY BOX TODAY!!!!
I just want to say Thank You! I really like everything in it!!
-a cute little fluffy doggy for Zack - he loves it!
-a box of TastyKake peanut butter on top of a little cake then covered in chocolate - MMMMMM I've never seen these before, but the box is half gone already!
-Old Bay Seasoning - this is new to me also, but Jamie knows of it and was very excited about it!
-an Egg slicer! - I've NEVER had one, but have wanted one for quite a while now!
-2 very pretty fall themed kitchen towels - ALWAYS need these!
Now for the Books!
-Taste of Home Good Food kids love - this will come in very handy
-Colorado Cache Cookbook - this is a big book with recipes from ppl living at high altitudes, I really needed this!
-Betty Crockers Cookie Book - Zack loves to cook and bake esp. cookies!
-Ice Cream - yep! just what the name says, it's all icecream and frozen goodies! We LOVE icecream and have just recently started making it homemade, I've already got some picked out to make!!
Thanks again Beth, everything is great!!
I hope you enjoy your box as much! I have it all ready to go, just need to put a new mailing label on it.
Well, I see most of you are back from the weekend!
Thanks for all the advice on the gnats! I'm going to try the tabacco, I have some for a spray I make with it. ALSO, I found out that potatoes cut in half and put on top of the soil attract the larva, I tried it and it works, gross! but it does work. I put one in a plant 2 days ago and pulled it out today thinking I had just wasted a potato and it was full of the nasty little things! Now that I've seen them I HAVE to get rid of them! YUCK!!! The are just tiny black dots, but you can see them moving on the potato *shiver* I'm still itchy thinking about these things being in my house! If it wasn't getting so cold at night I would put them all outside! I even took pics of it! LOL
My plants did so much better when I neglected them and only watered about once a month, well some of them! LOL
Tracy, Thank You! I'm excited! I'm starting a little potted shade garden on my front porch, I got a few other shade plants in another RR and until I get the spot under my tree done I have them in the big pots I used to bring some plants with me, they are doing pretty well and I like walking out and having plants right there, they get some morning sun, but not the hot afternoon sun.
Annie, you don't "owe" me anything, you were going to send some columbine for using the camera, I can't remember what else we talked about, you mentioned hosta, but I'm not to sure which ones are more sun tolerant, you really don't have to worry about it: )
As far as this game, I was going to guess the game operation because of the stomache but your last clue really threw me LOL
Tracy, Here are some that will tolerate sun. Guacamole, Fragrant Bouquet,Pineapple Upside Down Cake, June, Sagae, Krossa Regal, Striptease,Regal Splendor. I do have them all and can check on which ones I can share.
I know I have enough of the Guacamole, June, Krossa Regal, and Striptease. Let me check on the others in the morning.
I ment to say Vic.
Oh yea, you can pot up the hosta, then sink them plastic pot and all in the ground for the winter. I did this three times thinking I could get a Great Expectations to live for me, yeah right, No such luck. They say you can't kill a hosta, but believe me there are several that I've bought and killed more than once.
Hi everybody, I've had Kenzie since I got home and not much time to get on the computer, sorry. I do love having her so much, but goodness she wears me out:))
Tracy, I did fall in the ocean, but it was my choice, *he he he* It was so much fun and beautiful there. I'm afraid by FridaySaturday we'll have a hurricane either here or there:( I'd rather it be here so I know whats going on, but maybe it won't gather that much strength, anyway its coming whether I want it to or not. All you can do is hope for the best.
What are you all up to???????
Sassy, I know I worried about my niece being in Fayetteville, You've told me you are not too far from there. How often have you had to evacuate before?
Annie, I've never evacuated before. You certainly don't have to worry if she's in Fayetteville. She'll be fine, they may get some rain, but that will be it pretty much.
Ms Sassyone...I need a Kenzie fix please! Do I have to ask twice??? ;) Was great to talk to you too the other night! I think you brought some good fortune by letting me vent about construction. The drywallers have finished today and painters should be here tomorrow. The foundation stone cover is nearly finished. Now we just need the plumber/electrician to make an appearance and maybe we start the move soon! *crossing fingers*
Mariann, glad the well repair went okay. Are you starting to get a chill in the air there too? Woke up to 46* this morning and am hoping winter stays away for a few months yet.
Vic, hope you get rid of those nasties! I have found that "cooking" my potting soil before planting really helps prevent problems too and a fine layer of sand on the soil surface after planting or seeds sprout. Most potting soils are not sterile. I microwave potting soil that has been dampened in an 8 qt. glass bowl for about 10 minutes on high and then let it cool naturally before planting. You can "bake" it in the oven too but I am not sure on temps or time. You will get an odor from the nuking but here on the farm, we are used to the smell of dirt. lol
Tracy, so good to see another one is addicted to hostas. *giggles* I can't for the life of me grow the minis though. I seem to kill them in a yr or two after planting. I put 3 in an ICU pot (away from tree root competition) early this summer trying to save them but even that didn't help. :(
I thought about Fran, Pixie and Sassy this morning when I saw the morning news and latest of tropical storms/hurricanes on the way. I sure hope you girls stay out of harms way.
Beth, good to see you again. I always love to hear of your next travel adventures. Will you be wintering here in the midwest?
Annie, I think you must have the energy I can't seem to find! With your work schedule and travel, I don't know how you manage to garden too! Though I do know what a sense of peace/relaxation I get from playing out in the gardens. I think I know what treasures of Shelby's you've kept as I did that for my two also. (Why I don't know but maybe someday I'll need them! *giggles*) But I want to see if someone who hasn't won will think of it. Oh and my Cole and your Shelby are just a few years apart. I remember the He-Man years well! lol
I am sure to have missed addressing someone and it certainly wasn't intentional! Hope you all have a wonderful tomorrow!!!
Sassy, sorry to cut you short. I've put on my PJs and ready for bed.
Dee, you are welcome to guess, and you are the 2nd person to comment on my energy. During the holiday I worked at a concession stand at an antique gas engine show. One girl made the comment I had way too much energy. Heck, To be honest, I really have slowed down, and have mentioned many times, I don't mind getting older or having grey hair, but it is the energy that I really miss.
Time for Bed,
LIFE IS GOOD,
O my gosh Annie! I completely forgot about winning that prize! Slap me, would you? I am totally laughing at myself! Duh! Guacamole would be totally awesome if you have enough to share. I did pick that one up earlier this summer but it took a header on me. It was a tiny little Tissue Culture that wasn't too happy with the spot I decided it should be in. :o( I will pick better this next time! I promise to take good care of it.
Ok, nuff laughin at me for not knowing my chews! LOL! See what a city girl I am?! When we were kids we would go and stay with my aunt on her horse farm for 2 weeks in the summer. My cousin had a fort out in the woods that we would hang out in between mucking out stalls and feeding chores. Well, my cousin had a huge pyramid of these little round tin containers stacked up in there. They looked like hockey pucks to me so I never cared a bit about them. My cousin used to threaten me within an inch of my life if I told his Mom about those little hockey pucks stacked up out there. All I could think is why she would care about them? Duh, little did I know that cousin Mikey was a cheek tuckin' 'baccy chewin' dude! Can't believe he thought I would rat him out! LOL!
Vic, I have that Betty Crocker Cookie Book! I love love love the chocolate chip cookie recipe in there! YUUUUMMMM!! Oh, I am going to steal the icecream book. Watch out! Here I come to get it! Oh, best dessert I made last summer was when I used that cookie recipe and home made icecream for icecream sandwiches. So So So GOOD!
So glad to see your shining face Miss Sassy! Thought I was going to have to call out the Coast Guard on you or something! Sheesh! Batten down the hatches. I have been watching all these huricanes rolling in one after the other. I hope it peters out before it gets up that high on the coast!
Dee, I am so bummed for you losing your minis! Ah! Mine have all been doing well so far. I just started collecting them this summer. I hope they do well over winter here. Crossing my fingers. The hosta addiction is powerful isn't it?!
Annie, ok, Now I am thinking suppositories! LOL! Can't help it, nothing else is coming to mind. Got to get my mind out of the toilet. lol!
Tracy you so silly...lol.
Dee, I am in an area that never well, almost never gets anything except maybe a little rain from the tropical storms/hurricanes. With the exception of Hurricane Hugo back in Sept 1989. That one was mighty powerful. Crossed Right over the Middle/Eastern part of NC. We are in the area right next to the NC/SC line right near I-85.
I tell you as bad as Hugo was here. And it wasn't as strong when it got to us as it had been when it came barreling in on the coast. But for as bad as it was and the damage we got, I just can't imagine what all those folks go through who live down in the areas that get them most.
Hugo scared the fejeesy out of me. Don't want to go through it again BUT they say it can, but this one will not be as bad if it does come through over us.
I hope everyone else who has to deal with it comes through ok, and no damages.
OK WELL Gust. the Hurricane, UPDATE.... WE, here in Katy, America, got NO rain, not one iota of a dropling from it. So no worries there.
Copenhagen is NOT Chewing Tobacco, its a Snuff, (there is a difference trust me lol, chew is stringie and snuff it cut up small or (as in our grannies days powdered) ). Copenhagen is just a brand like Skoll (sp) of cut of tobacco or as the hmmm ummm "guys" here say.. a dip. Also works great for bee/wasp stings and burns lol, just wet it or take it from a mouth of somone dippin it lol. Yeppers I's a Texan lol. DUCKY Those lil Hockey Puck containers lol are a symbol of a True Redneck here, if ya don't have the "brand" (wear out from the can) on your back pocket ya aint chit lol. Sheesh what guys have to go through to be a "man" lmao.
Karen, I am excitedly gathering your box but I am waiting on something. Hopefully I will be able to send it out next week.
This coming Tuesday is Fox's birthday, going to try to do something special for him, don't know what yet so any idea's are very welcome if anyone has any.
Hope ya'll have a great night.
Karen, I forgot to say that lilium 'time out' had the biggest blooms of any and the besttttt fragrance too! Thank you again for sharing it with me!!!
Okay Annie. I think the tooth fairy was kind and left Mama with Shelby's baby teeth? ;Þ
Dan, positive thoughts and prayers are with you. Paula, take good care of your dear man.
Another cool morning here. Guess I best get ready for work and give the plumber/electrician a call.
*subliminal hint* kenziefixkenziefixkenziefixkenziefix *wondering if she got it*
Have a great day everyone,
Pixie, I couldn't decide if Copenhagen was "dip" or chew...lol I DO NOT do either, and amazing enough don't know anyone any more who does.
All the older ppl I used to know dipped, snuff. YUCK, that stuff stinks, and YEAP it sure does help with bee stings. When I was a little kid 'bout 4-5 we went to a place that had a LARGE open yard, kind of like a park but there were LOADS of clover everywhere. I being me and always the one to get hurt stepped on a bee, there was an old gentleman there who asked my mama if she had a penny, she did. He said can I see it, she handed him one, he spit the juice on it and told me to hold up my foot. I did he put it right there on the stingy spot, told mama to hold it there. With-in minutes the stinging was gone. Sounds gross but it worked, and any young'n a'tell yah spit and nut'n bad.
Sorry you didn't get any rain, Pix. Glad everything come through just fine.
Ooooooooooh! Here and I thought those big circle outlines in guys back pockets were SOMETHING ELSE!
Vic, I have Guacamole, June, Krossa Regal, Fragrant Bouquet,Sagae, and Daybreak. It is thundering out, so do I have your permission to dig these guys after my long stretch next week. We are getting the rains that Pixie did not get. I would dig them tomorrow, but I'm running to put some mad money in son's bank account that is affiliated with his bank in Green Bay, Shelby has to have kidney stones removed by surgery tomorrow. I wish I could be there, but he knows I can't. His beautiful wife will of course be there.
Dee, yes, you are right! BABY TEETH.I remember wrapping those baby teeth up for a graduation present, and saying from the tooth fairy. Everyone had a good laugh out of that one. Again I will get those packages out next break, as tomorrow night I return to work. I still have them in a little jar, but they are getting a bit fragile.
I know everyone is in a time crunch to get plants in the ground as it is getting that time of year. I really, really apologize.
This group is such a fun group and glad I'm part of it.
Sassy, I will call you here in a few or this evening, again I'm so sorry for cutting you short last night.
>>>>raggedy does not like thunder and lightning
Vic, I also have gold drop that does tolerate the sun well.
And here I thought chew was chew! I didn't know there was a dip too! lol
Dee, I was just reading on cooking my soil, then it said not to cook too long or get to hot or it will release toxins into the dirt and kill any thing you plant!
Then I read to use 50/50 peat moss and perlite, of course I just bought a big bag of potting soil and perliteand have been mixing them 50/50 to replant everything!
Then, being so happy to find out the potato method worked, I posted to the houseplant forum only to find that I might NOT have gotten fungus gnat larvae on my potato, but who knows WHAT kind of critter! (I'll post a link)
Annie, well now ya went and gave me choices! I'm not good at picking! lol They are all pretty! I do like Guacamole, I've never had a Big hosta like that, well, I've never had any hosta other than gr/wh var. ones.
BUT, I thought hostas were easy to grow! You guys have me worried now that maybe I shouldn't get one, I would hate to kill it!!
I do hope all in the "danger zone" of the storms are safe and stay that way!!
Here is a link that might be useful: my plant bugs! YUCK!
Congratulations Dee! Smarty Pants!
Annie, I am not a fan of T-storms either. They make me jumpy.
No hurries on the plants for me. Our temps are still in the high 80's and we've been dry as a bone. I was out weeding, seed collecting, cutting things back and watering like crazy this morning. Funny how there is always work to be done out in the garden. Never a dull moment.
Ok, I feel like making a casserole tonight. I have some leftover chicken to use. Anybody have a good Chicken Casserole recipe I can try?
Hiya everyone :)
I kinda went in a cave for a few days.. Been kinda down again about my mom. I think mostly cuz I'm sorting thru closets and drawers and packing up what I can now for the move, and I keep running across cards and things she'd given me. ughh!
Annie ~ that is correct on the Beverly Sills.. I can't wait! lol
Sassy ~ did you get my email? do you need my address for the Hemstitched or do you still have it from our last swap? So glad to 'hear' you're doin' ok.. when I saw where that hurricane was heading I thought of you..
Pixie ~ did you get my return email? Hopefully it didn't get junked lol
Now to all the Iris Gurus up in here..I got a large box from of just the regular purple ones from a guy on Ebay, I also got some (I think..) good ones from Walmart. They all still have green on the leaves, with just a bit of brown where they were cut.. they have lots of roots. Now.. I will be moving to mom's house (fingers crossed) on Nov 1st. Should I keep those Iris bulbs out and in a box or should I at least go ahead and put them in some dirt in pots to hold til the move? Also I have 3 that are in my garden bed, is it safe to dig them up now too? We're still high 80's during the day and low 70's at night and will be probably thru October.
I dunno what to do! Any advice is MUCH appreciated! lol
Vic, I'm not making you choose I will send all of them, I just need time to dig them as they are all nice size.(Please, Please, PLease, don't send me in the thunder. I don't mind a little rain just no thunder LOL) The columbine are nice size also.
The ones above take a lot of abuse, believe me, and yes, they are easy to grow. There are just a few persnickety ones that I've had no luck with. Example Great Expectations, Thunderbolt, and Cascades. I would never buy any of them again.
I don't know about any of you other mothers, but what is the craziest things you have saved from your children besides their teeth? I do have Shelby's first stitches that he got from jumping on the bed, and no, I didn't save his umbilical cord, and clamp. although saving the clamp would have been kinda neat. Why didn't I think of that?
Annie, I saved my first son's umbilical cord for about 10 years until I was sorting through the momentos box and scared myself when I found it in the little envelope. I was so grossed out and realized what a horrible thing to save for a kid! Blech! Out it went. Shudder...
1 t. yeast
11/2 c. sugar
4 t. root beer extract
In a 1-gallon jar, dissolve yeast in 1 cup warm water. Add sugar and root beer extract with enough warm water to dissolve thoroughly. Stir until dissolved.
Fill jar with water and set in the sun or a warm place for several hours or until strong enough. Cool. Note: Root beer can be made in the morning and be ready to drink by noon.
Annie, I did have my son's clamp. I have moved so many times and lost things here and there. I saved their first baby teeth. Hair from a first haircut, although it has gotten lost too. I saved all the stuff from the hospital, the little blankets and stuff. First worn clothes things like that, baby shoes. The usually stuff.
A bunch of toys, until they said they didn't want them.
Vic ewww, bugs...gosh only knows what our plants have huh?
TRACY, I've said it before I'll say it again...SHAME ON YOU...hehehe, I KNOW WHERE you where going with that...lol
OK, I sent Dan's box the DC is 0308 0730 00003427 9475
Gosh, I'm so nervous about it...I just hope he likes it and feels well enough to be able to use it.
Ya'll don't go play'n in no T'storms now...that ain't know fun!
Annie, no hurry! You can wait till spring if it gets too cold before you can get them dug. PLEASE don't go out in the storms!!
I was still posting when you posted that! (I sometimes get sidetracked and it can take a long time to get a post up! LOL)
You don't have to send them all, just take a pick of what you have the most.
Wendy, sorry to hear your feeling down. It must be very hard for you. But I'm sure once you get in there it will start getting easier, unfortunately, it is going to take some time. Wish there was something I do/say to make it better. Just keep remembering the good times.
I was very close with my Mom years ago, we were best friends, then she started drinking a lot..... that's another story, I do miss her terribly, esp. with having Zack. My Grandparents were a huge part of my life and I wish he could have that, but her disease is making it very difficult. She is still alive, but in a lot of ways I have already lost her. She was starting to do better just before we moved, but after I left MI she got much worse which really made it hard for me. I've often thought of having her move out here with us, but I don't want the drinking around Zack, nor the person she turns into when she is drinking heavy.
Anyhow, enough of that blubber.... It's been raining here almost every day!
Well, off to get some stuff done today!
Not sure if ya'll read up on it on the mnf thread, but Dan's test results were mixed up, he's actually doing great! :)
ANY advice from above on the Iris'es? ppppplease?? lol
Hugs to you Vic, I'm sure you made a good but hard decision there..
Tracy.. eww! I can't even imagine what that looked like when you found it.. don't wanna either! lol
Wow - you girls have been BUSY!! I'm sorry I haven't been on here to speak of! I am just so thankful to see you've extended it, because I thought I was in big trouble!!! Between all the harvesting and preserving, the birthdays, and the aches and pains and tiredness of early pregnancy : ), I've spent very little time on the computer! But, I'm feeling better now, things are a little more under control, we've only got one more birthday this week, and I took the day off from Farmer's Market, so I'm in a great mood today!
I'm sorry I don't have time to read everything right now, but I hope everyone is doing well! I did notice the root beer recipe - thanks Annie! My kids will love that! And I'm sorry about your mom, Vic. That's got to be difficult!
I'll try to catch up on everything soon, but there is spaghetti sauce needing to get canned right now! Have a great day, everyone!!
Vic, no big deal, I will get your box to you the week of the 16th. along with everyone else's. Digging in the dirt is really not work for me.
You see, there is a meaning to my madness, while I'm digging yours, I will dig the box of goodies for someone who I pull the name out of the bowl, hat etc.
Wendy, I know you will have your sad times at your moms and I pray each day it will get easier for you.
I don't think it would be a problem for you to dig up the ones that are planted, pot them up along with the rest and then when you get to your mom's house put them in a protected area. How cold does it get where your Mom's house is? Do you get snow? Just be sure they are not getting too wet. If so, put the pots on their sides; this will help avoid rot. I'm not a pro at this, just have learned from experience, and yes, I lose some to winter rot each year. I try to keep all the leaves off the iris, but I have six trees on the property + lots of lilac bushes which need to be thinned out.
Fran, I know I've lost some of Shelby's things over the years. I do have his first Teddy Bear that my best girlfriend brought to the hospital for him. Bless her heart she passed away just a couple of months ago from cancer. Every time I look at that bear it reminds me of her.
Ok, enough rambling, someone else's turn. Sassy do you have Kensie today?
I'm sorry to hear about your mom and Becki, I hope the tiredness will pass soon, but does it ever when you are having a baby?
See, I always manage to miss something, and someone.
2lbs. firm, ripe cantaloupe
4 c. sugar
Juice of 1 lemon
1(3oz)package gelatin (peach, apricot, or orange)
Pare cantaloupe and cut into thin slices, 1 inch long. Combine cantaloupe slices and sugar and let set overnight. Then add lemon juice and cook until clear. Add gelatin and stir until dissolved. Pour into jars and seal. Yields 2 pints.
Dee, I'm so excited for you! You can finally feel like the end is near and you deserve it so much. I can't wait to see all the pics. I'll post you some Kenzie pics at the end of this post, okay???? lol Wow, 46*, goodness I wish. It doesn't look like Hanna is going to be much besides rain but I am concerned as to where Ike is going. If things don't change for the better someones gonna take a beating.
Mariann, sounds like you got a good guy to deal with. I'm so glad he got you all fixed up and without stealing you blind.
Annie reminds me of my Aunt, she's full steam ahead every second shes awake. I wish I had gotten it. Unfortunately, mine comes in spurts. lol
Fran I'm glad you're tucked away safely upstate. But like you said Hugo fooled people, it was strong long after hitting land. It got most people that have moved inland and lots of damage to Charleston, SC and more especially Mount Pleasant was devastated. I'll just be glad when Sept. is behind all of us on the east coast.
Pix that is just sad that will all that flooding and you didn't get a drop of rain. Mother Nature is so unpredictable. The Copenhagen stories are funny and they love it around here too. My Dad chewed Beech-nut chew tobacco and I hated it with a passion. (That he did it, I surely never tried it) They always love to see how far they can spit! lol It never stop amazing me what men get thrills out of. (Sorry Dan) lol
*subliminal hint* kenziefixkenziefixkenziefixkenziefix *wondering if she got it*
LOL She got it!:)))
Tracy I had chicken breasts laid out to make your casserole tonight, then decided I'd wait until the 1st of the week. We had a late night last night and I've got to tell you girls. 1am this morning I hear Sassy (the dog, not me) going nuts barking and the front doorbell ringing. I look thru the glass and see Jerry, open the door and there stands Jerry with a shotgun pointing in the back of this black guy lying face down on the porch. Jerry said call 911, I did and they came and arrested the guy. For the last 3 weeks they have been all over town breaking into vehicles, they've already broken into ours 2 weeks ago but didn't get anything, they were just hunting money for a drug hit I'm sure. Our vehicles were unlocked because we don't leave anything in them anyway. Anyway, Jerry went and bought survailence sensors that detect any movement in the yard, and has it set up so he knows which side of the yard they are at. So when it went off, he peeked out of the window and saw his truck light on, he has a door on the side of his bedroom for quick running out for fire calls and he slipped out that door, stuck the gun barrel in the guys back and made him crawl to the front door so he could ring the doorbell and wake me up.
Now I've just hung up with 911 and it hits me, just how mad I am! I best not post anymore, lets just say my portable house phone is deceased. Ok, that was the end to my night. lol
Wendy, hugs sweetie, just know we're all here for you anytime you need to talk. No I didn't get an email, but I think I still have it, let me check and I'll let you know.
Vic...I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, that must be hard for you. I also need your addy, I think I still have Trina's.
Annie, later I'll take a pic of the worst thing I've ever kept of Julie's. Its a gotta see thing. lol
Tracy I can't imagine saving the umbilical cord. lol The clamp I can understand. Not the cord, thats a new Mommy for ya!
Becki!!!! What did I miss? You're pregnant????? And you didn't email me????? *frown* jk, I'm so happy for you, oh my you sure did surprise me with that one. When are you due? Girl you better be emailing me with some details!
Annie, yes I still have McKenzie. I'll have her until tommorrow night. and speaking of......here's a few pics for ya
Ok, you know I can hardly stop when it comes to Kenzie!
I'll be on later after the munchkin goes nitey nite!
Hey all. Wendy, I am sure you are having a really hard time right now, but you will come to a point when you will be really glad to be in your moms house. She will be there with you in everyway. You'll see, and understand what I mean. You will appreciate it.
Vic, that really is sad about your mom, to bad you can't get her out there with you and dry. Intervention. I know, it is a hard hard thing.
Annie, I am so glad you like playing in the dirt so much. Kind of reminds yah of being a kid again don't it....LOL.
Becki, if you don't start feeling better with being tired you might want to have your iron checked.
Sassy...OMG, good thing hubby caught the creep...sorry about your phone, poor phone. I am sure it was a good one. Glad you any hubby are ok though, it could have been bad. I wish I could have seen the guy crawling with a shot gun pointed at him. Maybe it will get around the creep circuit NOT to mess with the guy with the shot gun and the crazy lady's house....LOL.
As usually shes a cutie pie. I WANT ONE!!!
Tracy, I called Jamie today and had him pick up stuff to make the choc. chip cookies, and some p. butter, and there are 2 kinds of sour cream cookies in the book we are going to try. We bought a big thing of sour cream at costco last week and I know we will never use it so.....
I've safely hidden away my icecream book lol. There is a really good sounding one for peppermint-stick, a frozen strawberry wine, Bellini freeze(made with Asti), and lots more yummy ones that I would not be able to share with Zack!
Becki, CONGRATS!! That's wonderfull news!! I hope you start feeling better. Nice to hear from you.
Annie, I sure could use some of your energy! I put Zack down for a nap today and fell asleep with him for 2 1/2hrs! I still didn't wake up feeling refreshed! LOL
Dee, I sure hope you get to move in soon! I bet your getting excited!
Wendy, I've read that iris will be good for a month or longer out of the ground, but you could just leave them in the box and throw some dirt on top of em so they don't get too dry rather than pot them all up, or maybe a bucket with holes in the bottom?
Sassy, that would have scared the p right outta me! I'm glad he got him tho! Kenzie is such a cutie-pie!
Fran, I'm sure Dan will love his box! You worry too much! LOL
I'm sure I'm missing someone, it's only taken me about 45 min to write this lol. Btwn Zack wanting to color, then stickers, then a pc of cinnamon bread, pulling stickers off the wall, Jamie wanting something (he's sick now). now Zack wants milk, lol. No wonder I forget who I'm saying what too!
Fran I told him thats the part I hated that I didn't get a pic! lol Believe me when I say, I'll never forget that but to have a pic would have been so funny, today that is. Before I cut the light on, I could see Jerry standing outside the door, I opened the door and could see Jerry standing there in whitie tities and the whites of that guys eyes. lol It was crazy. lol Seriously, I'm certainly glad everything went like it did believe me.
You have to know Jerry is the most calm, collected guy you'll ever meet in any situation. He doesn't know the word 'panic'. Thank goodness.
Oh, and yes, I surely hope the word gets around, lol. I'll have to admit I did go a bit "C"! lol
Vic, I know what you mean, I missed your post while typing, which I've been working on for several hours on and off. lol We do the best we can to speak to everyone, thats all we can do:) Thanks Kenzie definitely owns my heart:)
Ok Fran, you started the 'research' so lets play it again, it was really fun, I had totally forgotten about it.
We're gonna find out everyone's 'Porn Name'
1) Name of your first animal
2) Name of the 1st street/road you lived on
Thats your porn name! Tell the truth!
And btw, I'm Spunky Dogwood Powers! Just in case any of you did't 'research'.
Fran, I hope you know I'm playing with you girlie! I'm so glad you found that! We did have fun, I had just forgotten about it:)) So lets go..........
Sassy, sent ya my addy. And btw, how is hubby's arm doing??
Actually Sassy dear, Wendy did the "research" on that....lol.
OMG, that's a big squirrel...lol.
I can't tell yah what my first pets name was cuz I can't remember...no really I can't. I know the name of our "FAMILY" pet when I was a kid, just not the first one I ever had that was really mine. Ummm, I will sleep on it and see if I can remember...lol.
I am going to bed, night all.
yep.. twas me :)
ok my so-called porn name is...
Snowball Dallas-Acworth Hwy..
somehow that just doesn't sound very porny to me! :P
Glad it wasn't the 2nd pet... that was Marshmallow! LOL
Hugs and G'morning everyone,
I imagine Shelby and DeAnna are at the hospital to get those nasty stones zapped, they don't answer either phone, or return a text message. My poor guy has been plagued with them ever since he had chemo. I remember them giving medicine to him for the uric acid, but apparently it just didn't work.
You guys are so funny, My porn name would be Butchy Sampson. LOL.
Sassy, great pics of Kenzie and her mommie, I'm sure Kenzie will cherish them forever.
Vic good idea on the iris,
Speaking of putting dirt on things I've got some daylily that came in and they've been soaking in water all week. I'm going to put them in pots till I'm on my time off again next Friday. Its way to wet to be digging, my rain gauge said we got 3 inches yesterday. The iris hate it but the hosta love it.
Be back in a few.
LIFE IS GOOD,
Wow, last night you guys were busy! lol!
Becki, Congratulations Darlin! I am so happy for you and your family. I hope you are feeling better soon. You must be exhausted with all the canning and crop collecting on top of the pregnancy. Wow! So how far along are you?
Sassy, that is the craziest thing! I have this mental image of Jerry out there in his BVD's holding the shotgun on that guy. Song playing in my head is "Bad Boys, what you gonna do when they come for you, Bad Boys, Bad Boys!" That is too scary. Poor phone, it will be missed. (Playing Taps now).
Kenzie is just gorgeous! I love those eyes. She is a heart breaker! Julie looks great! What beautiful girls you have Miss Sassers.
Wendy, I missed that you were moving in to your Mom's place somehow. I'm thinking it will be hard at first but then the good memories will take over.
OK, my porn name would be Cookie Ernadale. I don't know what to make of that! LOL!
Vic, you and I are on the same page. I was out of eggs and went to the store last night to get some for making those cookies! lol! I don't think I've ever made the sour cream cookies before. You'll have to let me know how those turn out. There are some pretty good ginger snap recipes in there too. I bake those at christmas time and crush them up to use as the crust for my Eggnog Cheesecake. Soo good!
Annie, I am just rolling at Butchy Sampson! Rofl! I hope all goes well with Shelby's surgery today. His wife takes good care of him I bet. Hugs!
Has anyone here ever divided Astilbe? Mine are getting a little too big for their spots and figure that as September cools the weather down it migh be a good time to do it.
Dee, I am dying to see some pictures of the house. I hope you get to move in soon, you must be so anxious by now.
Tracy, DeAnna will call or text me as soon as she finds something out.
I think Astilbe are very easy to divide. I dig mine put in water.(unless of course you don't have a container big enough) let set over night and the divisions should loosen for you pretty easy.
I think the sun is going to shine today. I'm going to run and put some mad money for Shelby in his account. Shelby likes flowers, but I'm sure he will like the money better:O):O).
I will be back later, if not I can come online where I will be staying while I'm working. I might just head there after I make the deposit, as it will take a couple of hours up and back.
Fran that thing was huge, I didn't realize it was that big so I took it off. Sorry about the mix up, I thought sure it was you for some reason.
Snowball thanks for reminding me of a fun game, I had completely forgotten about it.
Annie I sure hope Shelby gets along better after his procedure. I feel for anyone that has those darn stones. Both of my brothers have them at times. I'm so glad he has a good wife that takes care of him. Butchy, lol!
Oh sweet Cookie! I'll have to tell Jerry about that song, very fitting, lol.
Okay, I'd be Sparky someone - I don't remember the names of the streets I lived on as a kid!
I hope everything goes well for Shelby today, Annie! Poor guy!
Thanks for the congrats! I am 8 weeks right now - not really far yet. My due date is April 15 - tax day! Fun! I am past the REALLY bad exhaustion now - for a while, I just couldn't get myself to do anything, it was bad. I called the dr. and told him my thyroid must have taken a plunge again, so he had me come in and get all my blood tests done (even though I don't have my first appt. for about a week and a half yet), and they called and said my thyroid was fine. So, it was just way worse than I had ever experienced. Then, I was processing all these tomatoes, making spaghetti sauce and such, and the smell of tomatoes, garlic or onions made me sick every time! It was a bad few weeks. But, I think I'm past that now, so things are looking up!
Adorable pictures of Kenzie!!! And, Sassy, girl! I'm glad you and Jerry are both okay! I would have been SO mad at him!! What if there had been a second guy??? I'm so glad it all ended well! Whew! (And sorry I didn't tell you sooner! I'll try to get an email to you later.)
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!
Anni, (Butchy LOL) let us know when you hear about Shelby please!
Hmmm, my "porn name" isn't too exciting - Skippy Rich
Good luck with the astilbe Tracy, I've never gotten one big enough to divide! I did collect seeds before, just kept all the old blooms after they dried. I'm gonna have to get the eggnog cheesecake recipe from you, that sounds soooo good!
Wendy, just a thought, if it wouldn't be too hard on you right now, what about just taking them over to your Mom's and sticking them in the ground? Even if it's not right where you want them, it would get something done and out of your way, you could move them next year. But, I don't know if you would be up to that right now.
Becki, I don't know how you are doing all that you are, I remember waking up one day and I was just exhausted! I couldn't figure out why! Then I found out! LOL
I found out I was pregnant before I even missed a . They did an ultrasound and caught the egg in my tube still! Boy, what a LONG pregnancy!!
Maybe we should do a "porn swap" LOL and have to include something with the persons porn name in it! Just think Tracy, you might get a batch of cookies!!
and now I can't get that outta my head "Bad boys, bad boys" LOL With visions of Sassy at the door in her nighty (if she wears one) and hubby in his BVD's. I wonder if the nieghbors seen any of it!
OMG, I am laughing so hard at Skippy! I have this image of you in pigtails and a little school uniform just skipping around the house! ROFL! I think it ties with the Xena image! LOL! I will dig out my egg nog cheesecake a little later and post it tonight. :o) It has white chocolate and nutmeg shavings on top. So pretty!
Ah Sparky? I'm thinking hard hat and welding tools! LOL! I'm glad you're feeling better alreaydy. At 8 weeks I was just starting to feel the yick coming on and it last till I was 8 months along. That was with my second pregnancy. Oh that was a long and ugly one. So glad that is over! LOL! I'm glad the thyroid checked out ok and you won't have to play with that too much. My SIL had trouble with hers during a couple of her pregnancies. She was constantly getting bloodwork done and adjusting her meds. Like we don't go to the dr. enough when we're pregnant, ya know?
Ok well first Congrats Becki!!!
April Long Branch.
Oh Geeze isn't that awful?
Wendy - I just want to chime in with the others to say that I believe you'll adjust to living in your mom's house and be so thankful you're there.
DH and I purchased my parent's house about 5 years ago. I was the executor of Mom's estate and had cleared everything out (and painted) before moving in but it was still VERY hard for a while. When we remodeled the kitchen, DH and I did it ourselves, I sat in the floor and cried when the took out their cabinets. It felt so disrespectful... like I was throwing away something so dear to them.
It took my mother's sister coming in one day, long after the kitchen was finished, and saying, "Oh, Honey! This is beautiful! Your mom would have loved this." for me to realize that, indeed she would have! If she had still been in good health, she would have been over the moon about the changes.
With each passing year, it gets easier to make changes to make the place "ours" but, for me, it's more "home" than any other place I've ever lived. I think it will feel that way for you too.
On a lighter note, my porn name would be Sugar Caroline.
I'm back to where I will be staying when I'm working. Shelby is fine, sore, but fine. I told him to be sure to soak it will help with being so sore. I think they went through you know where!!!!OMG
Sugar Caroline, nice job on the kitchen, I love the color.
I love all these porn names!
As I was driving I spotted this little post office and I had to pull over to get a picture of it. I guess it is suppose to be the Smallest in the USA, anyway, that is what the sign said.
It was in St.Augustine, Illinois
LIfe is Good,
Annie AKA Butchy Sampson
I'm going to have to go back and correct the post master. I was looking it up on the net, and according to the picture on the net the one in Ochopee, Florida is the smallest.
Ok, I'm searching for the post office I took a picture of.
Here is a link that might be useful: http://www.roadsideamerica.com/story/14154
Vic, I think I missed your post asking about Jerrys arm, its healing really well. He still has numbness in 2 of his fingers but hopefully in time that will return. Hey, I think Skippy Rich is too cute! That porn swap would be interesting, lol. I'm not sure if any of the neighbors saw anything.
Becki please don't worry, I know how busy you've been, you just take care of yourself and that new baby. I am so excited for you:))) About Jerry, you have to understand not 6 months ago they broke into his work trailer and he had to replace $5000 worth of tools. It would do me no good to say anything about him going out there. Believe me if another guy tried to come at him the entire neighborhood would have been awakened and he wouldn't have been shooting in the air. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the idea of it, but I know I wouldn't change his mind. And to tell you the truth, I'm sick and tired of these creeps in my yard in the middle of the night. I'm just glad everything went as it should and I'm going to hope theres not a 'next' time.
Pat your kitchen is beautiful and I know your Mom would be proud about it.
We're starting to get rain bands from the storm but its not supposed to hit land until midnight or later, somewhere between Myrtle Beach and the NC line. Its so weird to look out the window and the sun is shining so pretty but its pouring rain. But that comes and goes.
Tracy, only you would come up with the school girl thing! LOL
Sparky makes me think holding sparklers while wearing.... LOL
No hurry on the recipe, I was thinking for the holidays, but I guess they are right around the corner! EEEEK!
Pat, your kitchen looks great! and how is the rest of the house coming along now?
Fran, LOL! I'm glad I didn't live on long branch!!
OMG, Vic - I've known too, since before I missed one - I could tell about a week before, and it feels like I have known forever!! I called the dr. office on the first day I missed (having gotten a + on a test 4 days beforehand), and told them I needed a prenatal, and they said, he'll see you at 10 weeks, and I'm like, you're kidding - that's still 6 weeks away!! Ugh! Now it's less than 2, so that's not so bad - but the time has just inched on.
Pat, you did a beautiful job on the kitchen! I can imagine, though, that was very hard!
These porn names are fun!!
Oh, Sassy. I understand why he needed to do it. Trust me! I can just imagine though how things could have gone another way. I'm so glad they didn't! And I am certainly glad this guy is going to get what he deserves now!! Way to go, Jerry!! I'm glad he is doing better now!
That post office is adorable!!!
Oh, Tracy - I can't imagine having that yicky stuff all the way through!!! Yuck!
Oh, I hear the school bus, the kids are home! Have a great evening, everyone!
Hey Butchy Sampson! I completely missed your post! Well it may not be the smallest in the world but it is the cutest, I just love it!
Pat I should have said....Sugar..... I love your kitchen, lol.
I love this too Annie its so funny. And yes they do go thru the OMG! *yikes* I'm so glad hes doing okay and sorry I couldn't talk earlier much, Kenzie was trying to go to sleep and that child fights sleep so bad. I'll do what we talked about:)
Oops! Sorry that those pictures are so big! I didn't really mean for them to be. When I resized, they just didn't look so oversized on my monitor. The good news is that this thread is about full, isn't it? These pics won't slow it down too much. (Or at least not for very long.) On second thought, maybe I should just go back and resize them. I think I will.
Thanks for the nice words about the kitchen remodel. I DO love it but what I wrote to Wendy was true. It took me a long time to get over feeling like I was destroying something. I posted the pictures because I think they're a pretty good indicator of how heartbroken I was at the time that I couldn't feel like it was a positive change. If Mom had been here and SHE had remodeled her kitchen, I would have thought it a remarkable improvement. It just felt disloyal for me to do it.
But as many of you know, I seem to be over that now. LOL!
Vic - Progress is still underway.
The contractor is nearing completion of his part of the garage. (DH insists on doing the electrical and drywall himself.) They are supposed to finish the roofing and install siding next week.
Our plan was to begin the house facade changes next year but one thing has led to another and I guess they will go ahead with the roof in a couple of weeks, though Chuck and I will not be installing the new windows and siding until next spring/summer. I can't tell you how much I dread living in the house while they work on that project. (For those who don't know, I'm not talking about just having new shingles installed. We're actually having the roof removed and changed from a 4/12 pitch to an 8/12 pitch with a gabled front.)
The pool project is still incomplete but it does now hold water and have an operational filtering system! (Another DIY project) We hope to get the backfilling finished next week and have the concrete guy here to do the apron the week after that. I told my husband that we absolutely must have that finished so that I can finally plant these dozens of perennials that I've kept in pots all summer!
So, that's probably a lot more detail than you were counting on when you asked the question. All I can say is we have too many projects this year!
