looking for something like lucite to embed things in?

Lucite has to be cured in some fancy oven. One website used words like "vacuum" and "autoclave". I was wondering if there is something like it that can be used at home, and how durable and scratch resistant it might be?

There are those casting resins used to embedd things like rattlesnake heads in belt buckles. they are expensive in large quantities. I tried using the acrylic stuff sold at craft stores for folks to fake 'water' in their dried or silk flower bouquet - doesn't cure perfectly clear if done outside. My project turned milky. None of its cheap.
