phil.bunchUpdated So how did you do with the potatoes? Worth the effort? It was mentioned that their acid soil requirement can make it difficult to make good rotations.

Melissa.HUpdated Thanks! After doing some more research and comparison I'm pretty sure it's a prunus caroliniana. I'll wait and see what color the berries turn to just to be sure. I think we will replant them further out from the fence to be safe....

hoovb zone 9 sunset 23Updated A similar plant, Eugenia aggregata, Cherry Of The Rio Grande, has fruit that is more edible. Syzygium paniculata used to be catagorized as a Eugenia, but was moved into a different genus.
