tracik3Updated I'm not sure where you are located but I'm from Louisiana and we eat these with fried fish. Its so good!! And thank you! I am really enjoying canning! I wish I had a bigger garden now. lol

myfamilysfarmUpdated I WB outside on a turkey fryer during the heat of summer, just need to make sure the fryer is out of drafts. All the heat is outside with the other heat.

myfamilysfarmUpdated I've canned the berries, but not as preserves, just berries. After canning the berries, I make the preserves later. I only go up to quarts of fruit, no bigger.

myfamilysfarmUpdated Personally I don't like dial gauges or petcock fastenings. My grandmother had one of those types blow up with her, but that was in the 1950s. I prefer Presto or Mirro, easy to get parts for also at most hardware stores.
Does anyone ever have to defend their choice to can?
