You pretty much can do it in any zone. It is just layers of mulch/compost and cardboard/newspaper and then plant your garden in that. The cardboard/newspaper supresses the grass so you don't have to till up a garden.

Here's the easiest way to do a lasagna bed.
First start with a thick corregated cardboard, any old box will do but make sure to remove any tape or plastic from box.
Lay this on the ground and moisten with a garden hose with a soaking sprayer.
Next, add a layer of ground up leaves or any other ground up organic material.
Next layer, you can use old potting mix, or peat moss.
Next layer ripped up newspapers. No slick coated advertising inserts. You want the easy decomposing kind.
Just keep adding layers until you get the depth you desire. Rule of thumb organic/non organic rotation of layers are good, just make sure the corregated cardboard is on the bottom. This attracts earthworms into your beds. Used coffee grounds are excellent for lasagna beds too. It gives the worms a nice snack.
Once you get all your layers done top it off with potting soil and soak down really well with your hose on "shower" setting so that you don't displace your potting soil on top.
Even with my physical limitations I completed 3 lasagna beds last spring in one day.
Good thing is the following year they are twice as nice because everything has decomposed so nicely.
You won't believe how plants will grow in this medium.

I have been reading the postings above about the lasagna gardening.I quite frankly find it informative. My question is can i use the remains of my vegetables after harvesting in the layering of a lasagna garden?

I have'nt done lasagna gardening tho i'm interested. I understand you can add your veggies if you chop them up and and remove all seeds.
