Hi, everyone. Been reading a few of your posts about making things easier when you have back, knee, or feet problems.....and I have all 3. Had back surgery last June 2004. I don't lift heavy things anymore, unless it is just from the back of my hatchback to the wheelbarrow to dump them in the yard.

I bought a gardening bench about 4 weeks ago, and that thing is a life saver. I kneel down on the cushioned bench, which has steel sides for assistance in getting up. My knees are very arthritic and I don't have enough oomph to get up without holding on to something anymore. There is something about it, too, that doesn't make my back as sore from digging and planting. $20 at Lowe's. Worth every penny.

My next purchase is going to be that little chair that the seat looks like a tractor seat? Can be moved around the garden, and don't have to bend over, well...a little. Wish I could afford to redo all my garden with raised beds, but that ain't gonna happen in the near future.

I invested in a stirrup weeder, which works great, too.

Any other suggestions?

Susan
