raising potted plants with crates for accessibility

I want to use those heavy grey plastic milk crates and plywood to raise all of the potted and trays of young plants I have. Right now they're on wooden flats, on the cement. To use the crates, two or three high, on each corner, would make then very easy to reach. My question then, would be...Will that be too drafty and cold underneath for the plants during the winter? I could lay down newspapers on the cement for insulation, but what about the bottom of the wooden flats? In the spring I'll have a simple greenhouse, but for now I just want to keep them alive. So raising vs lower during winter, is my main question. Please answer soon...it's getting into the 20's and 30's these nights. So far they're looking fine but brrrrrr.
