Just found this site and what a blessing it is! I've been growing succulents for longer than I can remember and have a 20 year old Saguaro and Barrel cactus that I'm rather proud of considering they were raised here in Wisconsin. I ordered a cactus on eBay about 12 years ago and the seller included an interesting little plant called a "Desert Rose". I potted it up and cared for it all these years, repotting it from time-to-time as it grew, not really knowing what I had until I saw one at a nursery in full bloom with a fat caudex. I came home and lifted mine out of the pot that it had been in for several years and found the buried caudex. I repotted it and lifted the caudex above the soil-line as shown in the photo.
