'What should I expect from this seedling?'.....I'm afraid the answer is...'not much'. Several of us have had these appear from time to time and they do not grow on much at all, especially if they go on to produce more white leaves. They are different to true variegated seedlings which can survive. Sorry I do not have better news for you. However, I hope I am proved wrong! It will be interesting to see what happens to it so please keep us posted?

trip_kc , you have two green leaves which will do the Photosynthesis for the seedling. Nothing wrong with your seedling, maybe ,it is a mutation with white new growth.

Just wondering how the white leaved seedling is doing these days, is it still surviving? I have one too! It came out of the seed case looking rather pale and anaemic and still is. It appears to have just the one seed leaf and is still struggling to push out another which is also pale. Another seedling has 2 seed leaves which are green and a set of true leaves which are yellow. I may give them a dose of potion to try and green them up. Funnily enough, they are both somalense seedlings.

Thanks for showing concern towards my unusual seedling.The seedling is surving and thriving.To my surprise next leaves growing are green with splash of white.Now I feel I am going to have variegated plant.I also observe higher incidence of variegation in seeds of dark red/blackish red varieties.
Anyway which potion you are going to serve to your albino seedling?

Trip, sorry I forgot this thread with your question regarding my 'potion'. Epsom Salts is good for a pick me up in the greening up stakes. 1 x rounded teaspoon/gallon is the dosage rate, but for one teeny-weeny DR it's a very, very small pinch per watering. For my main feed I use on a weekly basis Vitax African Violet fert, and it's NPK ratio is 15:30:15 with added trace elements.
