Root pruning for Adenium?

Hi eric. Root pruning is one of my favorite things to inflict on my seedlings. Because I am still experimenting, I tend to be slow about it---cutting only so much at once and waiting for new growth before pruning again. I have no particular objective other than experimentation.

Thanks for the info guys! I have my eye on a couple of my 1 year old's that I'm going to try this on when the weather becomes a little more stable. I have some dyna grow root hormone in liquid form. Is it recommended to dip the adenium in some after cutting or let a scab form or is it even really that necessary to use?

I'm guessing "cloating" is supposed to be "coating." Either a bad translation or bad type job?

Root hormones are for the most part, vitamins. So they won't hurt. The more important substance to use is alcohol--be obsessive about sterilizing your cutting tool before and after use.

I've never actually killed an adenium from root pruning but I found that they suffer less when you do this trim not just when the weather stabilizes but when it is actually warm. Or, you can put the pruned plant on a heat mat if you can't wait for this infernal winter to end.

After cutting, put the plant back in the pot and wait a day before watering. Some people wait a day before potting but I can't do that around here because my cats are rather diabolical--they'll open cabinets to find them, I swear.
