Tap root question

Hi Everyone:

I have been reading a lot of inquiries about tap roots. My question is - what is the oldest a seedling can be to cut tap root off and have it survive?? I have 10 beautiful little babies courtesy of Laura...(thanks again!) I would like to see how some respond. They are about 2.5 months old. I have already repotted so I would like to wait a bit before I uproot them again.

Hi Laurie,
I have not experimented with this, but many Adenium growers prune roots at a very old (adult) age. The treatment would vary if cutting larger roots, air drying (callusing), etc.

Rick, thanks for the response. The only one I cut was number 2. I figure if it stayed petite it would be a good candidate for bonsai. I am hoping it turns out ok. The plan was to do more but I just couldn't do it. :)
