I have seen these a lot here at home in the nurseries. Very hard and woody base.
I believe that they are the Ficus 'ratusa'.
I think they are looking for anything with a large root structure to pass as An older Bonsai specimen.

Well what do you know...I was just checking out a heads up on some palms that are due to come into a branches of the discount store Lidl here in the UK and what have I come across?....similar looking Ficus plants that Chuy has seen in Walmart California, also being advertised over here as 'Bonsai plants', talk about a coincidence!!

The store info says they are 30cm high, in a 12cm pot and on sale for ã3.99 which equates to $6.69...who gets the better deal Chuy?

You!!! Lol. It was $13.97 and I believe it was a 1 gallon plastic pot or maybe a bit smaller!!! Did you buy it?
