white callus looking appearance after adenium first trim

I wanted to promote branching in my adenium two original branches its about 2 months later it began sending out new shoots it then began to turn brown the leaves fell off not all andthen a white callus appearance became visible but the other branches does not have it I will upload the pic the second pic will be the normal lookong branch the white stuff is not soft and if I dig it off I pull of the skiin on the branch
