Decided To Rept A DR From A Local Nursery...

Hello EVeryone.

I had this DR that i purchased in the spring. Every day when i go outside and look at it .... I can hear it begging me to repot it. Now, i know some of you will agree that it is a little warm for a repot, but i went ahead and decideded to do it anyway. The whole process took about 5-10 minutes. I had everything ready before hand.

I hope this helps some of you that have emailed me about lifting the Caudex.

Hi Ladies!!!

Marie.. Thank you so much!!! You have the most beautiful trees.. Sigh... Sooooo beautiful!!!

Emily.. You are so sweeet! I wanted to showw how a plant can have some hidden beauty!! Thank you for noticing those crossed legs.. LOL.. I thought the same thing....

Ronda.. Thank you as well!!! Im glad you liked the pics. It is always helpful to see instead of reading sometimes. Im so glad you liked them!!!

I use the Reptibark from Petsmart (ZOO MED) Brand. It is Fir Bark and i really like it. If you watch the sales at Petsmart you can buy the 24 qt size on sale and can save some $... I do screen it for the gritty Mix. Some use it straight from the bag, but i do screen it and use what passes through a 1/4 inch screen. The other remaining mix that doesn't pass i use in my mix for my Plumeria. I also use the Gritty Mix for my Plumeria.

Thanks everyone!!!

Have a great night!!!

Great pictures showing the repotting steps, especially the bare-rooting process ..... and early to mid-summer is the best time to repot, so no worries there. Strong work Laura, as usual. ;-)

Laura,

What is the gritty mix? When I went in search to repot my DR I used compost, lava rocks, sand and perlite. I've since had an infestation of fungus gnats, which I read may be more prevalent because of the perlite. We used sand on top and mosquito dunks to control them). Anyway, when I do repot... next year ... what is gritty mix?? lol

Averie,
I don't know what is worse. Here in Ohio we have had high 90's for weeks with thunder storms every other day. Our warm season started real early this year, I think about now I would welcome a few cooler, days and nights. Lol.
Happy 4th everyone

Hello Everyone!!

Hi Averil.. Thank you!!! This little one has really taken off in the Gritty Mix and i will say that it just loves this mix. I also use the Foliage Pro and i know it is getting the right amount of Nutrition and essential nutrients everytime i fertilize. I cant say enough about the Foliage Pro and Pro TeKt. Good stuff! I hope you have had some sunshine over the Pond? Im sure you all have lots of activity since the games will start soon.

Thinking of you and hoping you have some sunshine.. You deserve that!! : ) Happy growing to you Averil!!!

Marie.. You always make me smile!! Thank you!! Coming from you makes anyone feel wonderful. You are the Queen of DR's and i can't say enought of what i think of you and your trees and how much you share with everyone here. You truly have a gift for growing and i just want to take the time to personally "Thank YOU" for all that you give to others here on the forum. If it wasnt for you and a few others... (Gill, Nancy. Karen.) we would all be in search of a place to follow DR's. You all have given so much.. Thank you Gill for starting this forum.

Nancy.. you have the most beautiful DR's around. She is simply goegeous!! You are the one who gave me the courage to cut back anything... Mahalo!!

Karen.. you are so helpful and kind. I will always remember that you were one to step up and help me when i was in need of some answers with my Plumeria. Thank you!!!

Take care everyone,

Sleep well...

Laura
