Look at My New Baby

Just got this awesome Nafta White grafted Adenium Obesum from AdeniumRose today. It is so big and has a massive twist of roots! I love the caudex. It is tilted so much none of my pots will work, need to get a wide bowl type pot tomorrow. It is one ugly Adenium but I love it lol.

Thanks sbrow, it's potted up. I went 3 places looking for the right pot. I didn't want one as deep as it was wide, too deep. The caudex part under dirt is almost at a 90 degree angle so I found this terra cotta bowl pot where it fit horizontally, not too deep vertically, and the part above dirt wouldn't be too terribly off center. Hopefully it will be happy here!

Oh that looks gorgous! you kept some more of the caudex underground then i thought which is why i was interested in seeing what you did. I didnt know how much of mine to allow above the soil. I took it out of the pot i got it in to find so much tangling and nice looking caudex underneath but i didnt want to shock it by raising it too much to begin with. I plan on raising it more in a few more months. Probably to a point similar to where you have potted yours too. Thanks for the update. It really is a beautiful plant :)

Heather,

You really did a wonderful job finding the perfect pot and potting it at just the right depth. You have a wonderful looking plant there. Thanks for sharing photos.

Thank you everybody. I could see the soil line on the plant from before it was bare rooted. I didn't want to raise it up more than that since it needs an adjustment period anyway. I did maybe raise it up half an inch or so from where it was. I'll raise it more next spring :)

Oh yeah! Very good selection of pot to use with this one and it will look even better when it grows its leaves. It has such nice character to the visible roots--I'm jealous!

It is worth for 3 stops to get a perfect pot for the right plant.
GREAT looking.
