Adenium dropping leaves...help needed

Hi guys,

My adenium has been dropping an unusual amount of leaves during the past two weeks without any obvious reason. It is planted on 50% perlite, 40% soil, 10% sand, and I water it once a week when it feels dry. It sits on a picnic table under a tree canopy, and receives full morning sun, then dappled sunlight throughout the day ... I'm located in Texas, so I am worried it would get sunburnt if it sat in direct sunlight all day.

I bought it when it was dormant, and was growing fairly vigorously until recently. Although it still has new growth, it has definitely slowed down, and as new leaves emerge, the bottom ones drop pretty consistently. They go from healthy shiny green, to spotty yellow, then brown and finally drop. I've also noticed a couple of the small lower branches have stopped producing leaves. Temperature is in the mid-high 90's now, so I'm wondering if this is related to the heat.

Any suggestions or ideas? Is this their normal growth pattern? Pictures below were taken today.
