I also wanted to mention there are probably 20 different varieties. Some seem to grow much slower than others.
Am I doing something wrong?

Adenium need heat, sun and humidity. Yes, gradually increase the sun until they are in full sun at around a half-day. They are missing this year's growing opportunity. They will survive where they are, but not thrive (grow) very much. Next year, they should be in all-day sun.

The pots are about 10 times too large for them. Go very easy on the watering. Pots which are too big hold too much moisture and create conditions for rot. Roots of adenium only need as much soil as they can touch. They have no need for miles of potting mix around them. They don't need it to retain moisture - they have the caudex for that. Excessively large pots take too long to dry out, especially in winter when the weather is cold and even worse if it is damp or rainy. In the future, consider clay pots which help wick away moisture. (Plastic pots maintain moisture.) One- and two-inch pots, which would be perfect for these plants, are available at Walmart for 32 cents each. If you keep them in the pots the are in, in the fall/winter when they stop growing, stop watering them.

In the summer time, people never want to believe about the over-potting because rot is not an issue. "My plant looks so happy!" But come next Jan/Feb/Mar, just watch all of the posts about "oh my poor plant". Or to save time, go back to last winter's posts and read the same.

With more sun, all of your plants will greatly pick up speed with growth. And that will make them far sturdier to get through winter.

Greetings Wendy, I have my seedlings in full sun and they are doing fine. I would gradually get them used to full sun so you don't burn them. Good luck! Your seedlings look great.

I have seedlings in full sun (wisely following the advice I received here), too, and they're thriving. Don't be scared :)
