Adenium Dying Please HELP!!

Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum. I received a desert rose plant for my birthday about 2 years ago. When I brought it home, it was green and had flowers and looked health. Fast forward 2 years later itÃ¯Â¿Â½s not blooming and the leaves are turning yellow and the root (I think itÃ¯Â¿Â½s called caudex) is beginning to discolor (see picture). My uncle, before he passed away several months ago would always come over and care for it. Now heÃ¯Â¿Â½s gone and I have no clue why my plant is dying off. Can someone please help me? I found some site that I tried to follow the site instruction but to no avail. PLEASE HELP ME! This is the only thing that I have to reminisce the time I had with my uncle and donÃ¯Â¿Â½t want this plant to die!!

From your photo of the base of the plant and yes, this is what is called the 'caudex'.
The caudex looks fine to me. The green color is normal and there is a slight hue do yellow/gold on the top of root on right is something I see on some of my older plants. The grayish striped look at the base and soil line is typical.
With the leaf you show. I can only hazard a guess that possibly it could be a watering issue.
If you could show a photo of the whole plant, it may helps everyone here give you a better idea.
Is the potting mix wet? It looks quite dark.
Do you know when it was potted last? Have you repotted after you bought it or within the past 2yrs.?
I am sure others will offer up some theories.

The caudex look fine, still green.

Don't panic. I know i did when all my leaves turned yellow and fell off yrs ago. If it helps, i use cactus soil & clay pots. Just repot it. Be sure to lift it up about an inch out of the soil. These plants are like Timex watches! Best of luck!
