Hi Ahmed. If you have limited space and you want to keep your plants awake all winter, you're better off getting a couple of 18-inch T5HO fluorescents mounted side by side--they run at 17 watts each with a 6500 k output. I use this set-up for my seedlings. At about 4 inches away from the bulb, you get about 18000 lux. It will be a bit more expensive than CFLs but throughout winter you will save more in terms of power consumption.

But the reason I prefer tube fluorescents is because it is significantly easier to efficiently capture the light into a compact rectangular space than CFLs.

Having said this, remember that adeniums tend to go semi-dormant in the winter anyway. Growth will slow down dramatically. My bigger plants stayed quite bald last winter and I just put them near windows without supplemental lighting.

Hi pagan,i was checking this kind of light.i seen them at homedepot but it says the 24 watt 2 feet T5HO is 2,000 lumens. and CFL is about 1600.wouldnt it be almost the same?the difference is the tubes is longer light more spread out than CFL,right?
