I have read these as well and I personally would not let mine stay out in temps. lower than 50F. The biggest factor would be if the plants where 'wet' and 'cold', but in the climate I am living in. I need to bring them in anyhow at some point, so sooner is better for me. The risk of losing them out ways taking the chance.

I have too many, so I don't bring them in until 30 degrees or under.
But when they are in, they in for good until end of March.

Rick and Marie - TYVM. 45-50 was my thought. But now Marie is saying hers are good to 30. If they safe down to 30 that would work perfect for me. I just purchased a Dwarf Moro Blood Orange Tree that is good down to 32. We don't see a lot of nights under 30. My thought for that was to build a burlap covered frame to set over top of it. It's almost to heavy to move. I would just build the frame a little bigger so I can place multiple plants under it. I might put some accessory lights(e.i.Christmas lights) for added heat. For the most part all my plants are good down to 30-32. Some lower. I am mainly concerned about my DRs. I will bring my seedlings in @50. But if my bigger plants can handle the chill down to 30-40 than I may just leave them out just cover them at night. I believe that is the way they would prefer it. Cold and dormant.

Trying to come up with a consensus from growers and not scientists or horticulturist. I would assume that you're actual climate. Temp, Humidity, Precipitation and others; all play a part in how actual hardy your particular plants are.

i live in the Palm Springs, ca. area and it can get down to the 30's here once in a while and I just pull my DS in closer to the house or under the patio cover and they do just fine. Some drop some leafs but that is the worse of it.

I leave mine in my greenhouse which I try to keep at about 40 - 45 deg F. As long as I keep them dry mine over winter fine. As soon as they get wet, mine will rot in there.

I brought mine in last week because our nights are in the 50's - I take no chances on them getting too cold, especially considering our Florida humidity. They stay in the Florida room until April, then back out in the heat and sun.
