When you say it is dying.
Is it withering away or rotting?
Is it changing color and becoming more Biege and dry?

These questions will help people with more experience with harvesting seed pods.
If it is just maturing then you will need to either wrap it lightly with a fine wire or put a organza type sac over it, because the seeds will float away as soon as seed pod splits.

Check in. Someone will give a more definitive answer, if you can elaborate on information given.

Poke my seed pods are opening this week. If it is starting to crack open down the center put some twist ties on it NOW as they will blow away. I have been using 2 to 3 ties per pod as one will not keep it closed. When it starts to open it is fast so keep an eye on it. I have had a couple of them rot and I have found that it started at the bottom. Yours look like mine when they started to open so work fast. You have hours. Good luck.
