Someone was recently asking about varigated leaves and I thought of this baby. It's a noid but the pink color was so different I had to have it. I'm still waiting for it to flower, but in the meantime I have been trying to get babies. They start out just fine, little mouse ears and everything. Then the mother leaf dies and so do the babies, I am assuming because they don't have enough green in them. Will probably behead it after it finally blooms to see if I can get some suckers to start and root. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Janice

| Janice, that's a *gorgeous* plant. Try using a high nitrogen fertilizer (no urea) to green it up a bit. When propagating variegated AVs, you are supposed to take the greenest leaf you can find because, as you suspected, white leaves can't support themselves, much less babies. Oh -- try a warmer spot, too; that can also help make it greener. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Korina |
