Can you post a picture of the plant in question? Yellow leaves can be caused by a variety of factors including disease, stress, and old age. I have seen yellowing of leaves when an AV has been in a cold windowsill and contracted powdery mildew. I'm not sure the cold by itself would cause yellowing unless there were actual frost damage, but I could be wrong.

Good advice, Mark. The freezing point is 32 that will kill an AV plant. It could be a combination of too much light and too cold on a window sill. If the plant has not had its potting mix replaced in the past six months or so, suggest replacing. It can go back into the same size pot. Persistent temps below 40 is bad for AVs. The window sill is colder than anywhere else in the house.
The ideal for the AV plants is in the range of 60 to 80. Water should be lukewarm when watering a cold AV.
