If the mother leaf is in good shape( and is not blocking light to baby's), then there is no need to remove it until you repot. I like to cut off the top 30% of the leaf so it doesn't continue to grow and the plant can funnel energy to the baby's. It looks like your mother leaf is damaged with the top curled and with a tear in it-if so I would cut straight across the tear to eliminate the damaged area-if only very little salvageable leaf left, then I would remove. A good time to repot begins when at least three leaves are nickel size or bigger. One reason to repot is to seperate baby's, but as you only have 1 crown growing it's not a bad idea to wait longer, and let the new plant become bigger and more established. I usually keep the plant under done until I repot, but once 3 leaves are close to nickel size you can eliminate some.-

I would cut it off now. Just because it looks better. When I potted up my Af. violet cutting it had plenty of roots. I think it is just taking energy away from the other leaves.

The so-called "mother leaf" sustains the new plant or clone it produces. The longer it remains in the pot, the longer it will sustain and nourish any new plants. It will continue to sustain and reproduce new clones the longer it remains in the pot.
