Rooting suckers

One of my chimeras (Petunia) has a small sucker on it. I would like to root it to get another plant to trade or give away. My question is: How big should a sucker be before it is cut from the parent plant? The leaves on the sucker are currently about 1/4 the size of the mother plant.

Hi, Snappyguy,

My general rule of thumb is that the leaves need to be as big as a thumbnail before removing...they need to have enough surface space to take in light for photosynthesis once repotted/started.

Thanks for the tip. I'm still getting used to growing leaves and suckers and really want this one to work. I'll let it get bigger before I try and root it.
