No; that's not done since unless it's a trailer you want only one growing center(crown)-this allows maximum growth of the plant, and the best flower production. if it's a trailer multiple crowns are the rule, and even though you can produce bigger plants faster by putting multiple plants in one pot, this is not allowed according to show rules

Guess it's not really worth it then. I'm not taking it to some kind of show though.

You may get an overall fuller pot, but you'll produce weaker plants if they have to crowd each other for space, light, nutrients.

The best growth is one per pot for Violets (imo), there's a reason why the show rules say one crown.

Even with trailers you remove leaves that crowd / shade parts of the plant...

Basically, to bloom, they need extra energy, which they get from light. A single crown maximizes light exposure :-)

I only have one anyways. I just was wondering because of some pictures I saw where the large pots had lots of flowers.

There are you-tube videos by" soo neaty" where she shows several plants in a planter. The plants are not crowded together and are all single crown. It is more a group than a clump. I don't see why African Violets cannot be planted like pansies or petunias in "planter box" arrangements.

I suspect, as the pot she was using wasn't pictured clearly, yet enough of the pot showed that the pot was the point

I mean, if a person had a lovely, fairly shallow pot that has a large diameter, a grouping of AV's might be just the thing, especially perhaps some of the species violets.

I have various large planter type containers and I try to keep plants, lobelia, pansies and such, in their own small pots, using the larger more ornate pots as cache. The less vigorous plants tend to get crowded out in a single pot and the symmetry of individual plants can suffer

All plants are easier to maintain, replace and groom if each is in an individual pot...within a larger cache but if it works for soo neety, it would probably work well enough for you and me.

I intend to try it with some of my many mouse ears if I can find the right shallow lovely pot to plant a mixture of plants or several of same within.
