It may be a odd thing to notice but I love the healthy looking pollen sacs... I hate it when I see a picture of a beautiful violet just to notice chewed up and turning brown pollen sacs. You bloom looks healthy robust and pristine! And beautiful too!
Are the brown and chewed up pollen sacs indicative of an old bloom or thrips? I pray that I will never have to deal with thrips, given that they are vectors for the INSV virus. But, I know that at some point, I may very well have to. It's all a part of hobby growing!
I'll have to check FC to see who hybridized this one. There is another one called Neptune's Jewels, I believe. The blooms are not as big as this, though.
Growhappy, I think the chewed up, brown, damaged pollen sacs are due to thrips. You can really see the damage in close-up pictures. I've seen old blossoms and pollen sacs but they have a different look to them, like edges of the petals turning brown and the pollen sac looks somehow shrunken, sometime wrinkled and a school bus yellow color? That's the only way I can describe it. All of your blooms looks so healthy and beautiful! You have a great collection!
May we never be cursed with those pests! Crossing my finger!
