My Apache has always bloomed single, this time the blooms are double. I like this better. What makes this happen?

Flowergirl - I think your Apache is working on a Valentine for you! Depends on what Apache you have - if the description says semidouble - it means sometimes single, sometimes extra small petals in a middle, sometimes almost double. Depends on the conditions. I guess it was just happy. Irina

Hi FG, If you give me the name of the AV I can look it up on FC2 and get a description. |

Fred, the only name I have is Apache.

Flowergirl - There is no registered variety "Apache". But there are about 50 registered hybrids by Jesse Munk - and all of them are variegated - from Apache Arrowpoint to Apache Wonder. Gorgeous plants, all of them. If yours is one of them - it should be a good one. Irina

When I got this plant, there was another red one from the same hybridizer and it was called Tomahawk I think. I believe the hybridizer was from Nebraska, but I can't recall the name. I'm sure the name on the plant tag was Apache. All this dosen't matter, the flower is gorgeous. Oh, it isn't variegated.

OK, it is not Apache - it is Arapahoe - a great red hybridized by Kent Stork from Nebraska. And I am sure the name matters - Kent - worked for thirty some years on his reds. Irina, the grouchy
