African Violets

Can I save African Violets affected by cold?

My 30 year old African Violets were subjected to 48 hours of cold when we lost heat during a blizzard. Some of these plants belonged to my now-deceased mother so they have real sentimental value. Is there any hope of saving them? The leaves are all wilted. Thank you.

On the Optimara site, on the plant care page, there are detailed instructions on what to do for violets that have been subjected to cold. I hope this helps. Also, imho, I think some people are too hasty in throwing out damaged violets. These plants are tough and, given the proper care and a lot of patience, can often become beautiful specimens again.

I had that happen a few winters ago. I saved them by getting the best looking leaf on the plant and puttting it in soil to propagate. I hope this helps you. If you haven't done any leaf propagation there are lots of video tutorials on youtube.
