Andrew - you are so right - thick wick will drown your babies. You can either disassemble your yarn and get it to the pieces with 2 ply - or get to Homedepot - and get yourself a roll of mason twine #18. Usually I use 1 wick up to 3.5" pot - and 2 for larger. Mason twine has a tendency to get salted faster than baby yarn - especially if your plants are not on mats - so keep an eye.

Thanks Irina - However Homedepot and Mason twine havent reached Australia just yet so I'll change to 2 ply acrylic for the babies and 4 ply for the grown-ups.

Make that 3 ply for the babies. Despite Australia having more sheep than anyone else it seems we arent interested in anything as thin as 2 ply.

Sadly even using 4 different search engines there 'aint none in Oz. Tried to order from Amazon but for some obscure reason they wont ship to my address.
Thanks for the advice, I'll keep looking and in the meantime I'll thin out the 3 ply to 2 ply.

Andrew - do not give up - just get to the hardware store - and find some skinny nylon rope - i think the thickness of it is about under 1mm.

But as long as you are committed to unply the yarn - park yourself near TV and keep working on all 200 some wicks!
