You need an algaecide. I use Physan 20 available from Cape Cod Violetry.

Or another idea is to make your clear containers opaque. I wonder if you could sponge paint most of the container just leaving a small area to show the level of the water.
I don't know for sure this would work but it is something to think about.

Has anyone ever used peroxide! I was told to
Use 3oz. Per gallon of water . Just wondering if anyone has done this before.

I just looked it up on the Cape Cod Violetry site and here is the description:

"Used for sterilizing trays, pots, or
working tools. Add to wick
containers or matting to eliminate
algae. Can be sprayed on plants
for control of powdery mildew.
Note: this will affect your blossoms."

I don't know what affect on the blooms it has, but I THINK I'll look into that before trying it.

It has an effect on your blooms if it is sprayed onto them. Putting it in the water is a common practice and will not affect the blooms in this way.

Thanx! I wonder why they don't say that . . .

I would say nothing - just let it be. At the meeting in our AV club we discussed this issue and got an answer - it's good for a plant if it's creating this "nasty" greens. Some of my AVs don't have it and the plant next to it has bright green water and nothing will change it - not a new container, new cord or water
