I am sure they will welcome you with open arms! Most of the "violet people" I know are very friendly and most clubs are always hoping to attract new members. Please don't let the wheelchair hold you back!

If you grow violets I can see no problems with your joining a club. I realize that your physical problems may seem like a deterrant to joining, however, as Linda said most clubs would welcome you. My former club had an elderly woman who was wheelchair bound and she came to meetings regularly in spite of the fact that her husbsand had to take her down a flight of stairs.

AVs seem like the PERFECT wheelchair gardening setup. You roll right up to the table and work with your hobby. No bending, kneeling, crawling or squatting.

We have a woman in our group who has MS and is wheelchair bound, we assist her with things that require a steady hand but she does everything else. It gives her so much pleasure to have something that she can do and participate in and that makes us all happy.

Ask about the meeting locations and events and if they are wheelchair accessible.

Your wheelchair is only a hinderance if you let it be.

OH, you NEED to join! A violet club is a great place to share the love of growing violets with other people that enjoy them too. One of our members is in a wheel chair for years (MS). Her age and health problems prevent her from growing violets these days, but she still enjoys to come to the meetings when she can. tish
