I need to repot my AVs, but am a little strapped for cash right now so I'm wondering if I could use cactus soil mixed with perlite instead of AV soil? Any ideas?

How long has it been since they were repotted? If it is less than a year, I would wait until I coud afford to buy the components you usually use. Fred in NJ

I wouldn't because I have used the Scott's Cactus soil before and it has added bone meal and it made the soil in time like cement. I was trying it out on Hoya's. Plus in summer ants were attracted to the sweet bone meal. It was a horror story! I repotted all the Hoya's I'd used it on and the problem disappeared and hasn't returned.,,,Debbie
