your violet sported. It happens quite often especially if the plant is stressed - and in your case it is probably because your growth conditions are different from where it came from.

There is nothing you can do (or undo) - enjoy your AV as it is now.

It is way too far from Jacksonville - but on a weekend after this one there will be a DIxie AV convention in Ocala FL. If you make it there - you will see the violets out of this world, get yourself some starters of the varieties you will fal in love with - and never ever return to HD to buy AVs. It is a place to buy 2-by-4s.

It probably has sported as Irina said. African Violets are really unstable, which is one way we get some great new blooms.

Another possibility is that it has seasonal (or temperature-sensitive) blossoms and the dark rose color will return this summer. I have one plant that has lavender colored blooms in summer and mostly white ones with some purple in them in winter. If I posted pictures, you'd think I was fibbing that they were the same plant! The colors change back and forth like that every year.

Aha - I love "Beachcomber" - blossoms can be pure white or almost all pale blue or anything in-between- and it very much depends on a season - but they are always gorgeous.

My very first violet was Optimara Alaska - from HD - and Oh Boy - this baby at some point started changing - from the description - single white star/violet blue rays - I had almost solid blues, blue eye in a middle, color leaching all over the place - some petals more blue, some petals more white...tie-died - more dark in summer..I hoped to hold to it for sentimental reasons - but my wick got pickled, it dried up - and after I rewatered it - it caught the root rot. Happens when you dump too much water on a bone dry plant.
