African Violets

question about size of pot

Hi
I brought home an african violet and it had 2 suckers that I removed. The original plant has a set of large outer leaves and some new tiny leaves growing in the middle. But, basically it is a 9 inch plant but only has about 6 full sized leaves.
So would you go with a 3 inch pot even though it doesn't have the usual number of leaves?

Yes. And I would watch the soil doesn't stay too wet for too long.

A 2" pot would probably not be stable enough for a 9" plant even though it is mostly smaller leaves.

When the plant is actively growing, you can start taking off the older leaves. One at a time,not all at once. It will stress the plant all over again. And you may have to pot down again. Patience is the keyword here!
