propagating 'girl' leaves (Tamsen)

I'm rooting leaves, and my Tamsen mama leaf is growing a cluster of babies right on the leaf itself. There are no roots, just a wad of microscopic leaves right above the stem - on the light-colored patch that girl leaves have.

I can't photograph this; I needed a magnifying glass to determine that these are actually baby leaves. At first glance it looks like a small lichen is growing on the mama leaf.

Is this normal for girl leaves? Will roots form, or perhaps "normal" soil-based babies, too? Is there a way to get a plant out of this oddity? --Jaye
