Hi,
I've grown Ness' Orange Pekoe and I would guess that presently it is the closest to orange that I have seen out there. It is still predominately pink though.

I have this plant for many years and it had always bloomed pink for me. I never saw any orange in the flowers. If anyone has an orange version, please let me know. I would surely like to try another plant.

I suppose it depends on yours definition of "orange." My plant was beautiful but I discarded it because it clashed so horribly with everything else on the shelves.

I tend toward lavenders, clearer pinks like some of the Fredette's and a lot of blues. Orange Pekoe had kind of a tea-dyed color, if I recall correctly, and it just stuck out like a sore thumb. It was too orange for me.

If they all grew like mine, I would recommend it if you can stand the color. Its only issue was that it bloomed "Optimara fashion" and I really should have removed some of the blossoms to let the center "breathe." It had excellent variegation.

It did not look like a highway cone however.

I would have loved to have the plant that you threw out. I prefer the unusual flower colors myself. They make AV growing more interesting.
