It is amazing, isn't it? I oughtta post the pics I took at my uncle's of his AVs--They're actually worse off than these but still alive & kicking, and he really wouldn't listen to me about changing anything which I suppose is fine since they're alive & make him happy for the last 10+ years.

It sure puts that old saying that AV's are delicate and hard to grow plants on a back burner. I have been telling people for years that AV's are easy growers.

oh yea, I forgot to mention, these are grown in a North facing window, with a huge evergreen shrub outside, so they get very very little light. When I got my first one, I put it in a north facing window, (I didn't knnow any better, and hers were doing good so I thought that's what they liked). I noticed today also, there's a stick of a fertilizer spike in the soil of one of them too, imagine it isn't doing much good, cuz the soil is so dry.

This lady has some huge Hoyas in a sunroom too, in the same shape. Today three even had flowers. I have cuttings from all of hers, but they are healthy and pretty. She didn't believe me when I told her they were from hers. Makes me mad cuz mine won't bloom, maybe I'm being too kind to them. LOL

And just look at the suckers in the middle picture.....makes me want to get in there and root around!

growing avs can be simple and fun.
I bet with a bit of time on here, learning some of the tricks of the hobby and asking questions as you learn here will have you with some gorgeous plants in a month or two.
