I Love Holidays that Sell Flowers

Ah!! every store around here are selling some type of blooming flowers for mother's day. I walked into one our larger grocery stores today and they were totally flowered up for Sunday. They had violets and two came home with me. They are NOIDS just like my others but they were the only nice looking ones left. One is purple with white centers and the other one is white with just a blush of lavender on the edges. Well so much for me waiting for until July for new violets. Getting ready to repot to a smaller pot, good soil, and put their wicks in and sit back and enjoy. It has been a good day. New violets, found an old type christmas cactus and someone gave some very large rooted cuttings off of her 75 yr old hoya who could ask for more?!

Nope I don't think it does. Everything was repotted last night and I am smiling today with all my new plants. I did find out that what i was sold as christmas cactus is really a thanksgiving cactus but that's okay.New violets look beautiful today show no sign of stress since i took all the old soil off and put in a nice new smaller pot.The sun is shining and it is going is in the 90's what a great weekend. New plants and great weather!!!!!!

I have a Thanksgiving cactus that was my grandmother's. It was a prominent plant in her house when I was a little boy (I'm 57 now). So,I am the plants third keeper now and given the proper natural lighting in the fall, it will bloom from November thru April.

You will love it.

I hope to have this cactus and all my violets a long time at least another 30 more years (will be in my 80's then) maybe someone will want them and love them like I do. My new little violets the blooms are on the straightest little stems that I have ever seen.Very pretty they come from a greenhouse in Canada ,Burnaby Lake greenhouse have you ever heard of them? Very healthy plants good color. My collection is small compared to all of the serious collector here but I am just as devoted to my now 10 violets and 23 other plants. Isn't it amazing how something so small as a violet in a little pot can make your day?
