I have a problem with your suggestion. I do agree that easing into showing av's is a good idea, however, I feel it is much better to ease into a show that is primarily and AV show which is judged by qualified AV judges. I have seen too many shows with AV's entered and they are generally awarded ribbons on primarily the amount of bloom on the plant. They do not consider the condition, grooming, type of plant and bloom as well as does the plant conform to a description in the Master Variety List. Country fair flower shows would be great if they had the violets judged by AVSA standards using AVSA Judges.

We learned a HUGE lesson that many judges for regular flower shows don't now squat about judging AVs using AVSA standards.

At first I thought the op was a spammer to promote her fair but it can be a good suggestion taken in the correct context.
