With stoloniferous plants (plants with runners) I prefer to cut the runner and place that in the potting mix. I also wick water. I do this because it helps provide water to the rootless cuttings. Bury the cut end of the runner all the way up to the plantlet, so that the plantlet makes good contact with the potting mix. Increasing humidity by placing a bag over the pot can be helpful as well. Just remember that once the cuttings have rooted to not remove the bag at once. The cuttings will need to be hardened off by cutting off the corners of the bag and letting it stay on for another week or so before removing it completely. Otherwise the plants may be shocked by the sudden change to lower humidity and be damaged or die. Hopefully others chime in here with their methods, but this is how I handle it.

So your suggestion is to cut the runner and try to start them as two separate plants, correct? Along that line, since they are trailers, can two plants be planted together in the same container or should there be only one plant per container? I have a 6" shallowish stemmed planter that I'm planning to use.
