I don't know if alcohol will take care of powdery mildew. Milk painted onto foliage and flower stalks will.

Alcohol may dry the plant out somewhat so a warm water rince would help.

Milk? I've never heard of using milk but I would certainly love to try it! So do you just 'bathe' the leaves in milk and then wash it off? Does it matter if it is whole milk vs. skim? Thanks Nancy-you've got me interested now(I've got a problem plant that I can't seem to clear of the mildew-I'm getting desprate!).

Unfortunately, alchohol doesn't touch PM, but Lysol does. Just hold the can away from the plant and spray above it, so the Lysol settles, rather than spraying directly on the plant. One caveat; Lysol *will* damage the flowers.

I've never tried the milk. I believe it changes the pH.

Once you get rid of the PM, you need to look into your culture. Either there's too much humidity, not enough air circulation, or both. Fix it to help keep it away.

Hi, I am new here hope to learn a lot about my African Violets.
I noticed this powdery mildew on the leaves of several of my plants. I read somewhere to mix Baking Soda with water and spritz. I tried it and it left spots all over the leaves that I had to clean off. I will try the Lysol and see if that will work.
