How many mouse ears (babay leaves) are coming from the mother leaf and how big are they?

There are 7 'mouse-ears' on one and 15 on the other. They vary in size; the largest is about the size of a nickel. Thanks for the prompt response. I can take a picture, but I don't see any instructions on how to attach one on this forum.

If you've got that many mouse ears, I'd just take the mother leaf off and plant the starter up.

Just for clarification - are you on board with the kind of soil, pot size, etc.?

Thanks for all the help everyone. My two plants are now re-planted 'sans' motherleaves. Dora, planted the youngsters in a 50/50 mixture of peat moss and my own compost, screened, in 3-inch pots. Put them in a north facing window where they get lots of light, but no sun. Here's a link to a pic. of the babys before repotting. They were in a 6-inch dia, margarine dish with saran wrap on top:
