Off the top of my head I can only think of blocking popups. That can be done in your browser settings.
There is a strange adware (?) out there that keeps sending you to survey sites - if you got hit by that, just un-install your browser and re-install it (that's the only way I could get rid of it on my pc).

I can investigate other / more detailed solutions if you want...

adblock is best! been suggested on Kitchen Table several times, and we all love it. Links are included on the below. I have it on both my IE and Firefox and it's great.

sure can! Here is the main download page for adblock plus there you will see the different icons for the various browsers like firefox, chrome, opera etc. Just click the one for the browser you want to download for. this one should be chrome.
