I've had leaves like that on babies. What does the variety description say about the shape of the leaves? There are a few varieties that have a 'cupped' leaf shape.

I was wondering if you can use a butter dish with a clear lid to propagate leaf cuttings? To put them in after potting in the little tubs.

Does the butter dish have drainage? I would think not. You need a container that excess water can drain out of.

You do not need to have a drainage in an enclosed container where you put your Solo cups with lids - but a butter dish seems a tad too tight for them. I am thinking that if you propagate miniatures and put your leaves in 1 oz pill cups - it probably will work.

You can also use plastic bags, or inverted jars/soda bottles, clam shell bakery containers, those bags blankets are sometimes sold in are great...
I like to use the jiffy plant trays with covers:

Anything that helps with humidity. And keeping it someplace warm or using a heat mat helps speed things along.

When I just have few leafs I like to use the plate and lid that comes with the TACO BELL's Bella Grand . It holds 6-2 oz soufflé cup perfectly. You can get 2 standard leaves in and 5-6 sem. or min. leaves in . The lid snaps on keeping the humidity in. When the babies are large enough you can transplant them in to 1,1/4 oz cups and 12 --1,1/4 oz cups fit in the same Taco Bell's tray and lid. I have used them to send 12 plants to friends through the mail and then they have a way to keep them isolated also
