Shiny spots on leaves

I've had quite a few plants die recently and I've noticed the leaves have shiny clear or sometimes reddish spots on the leaves. Is this some kind of virus? I wick water on water trays - so I guess the disease (if that is what this is)could easily be spread from the water. Please let me know if you are familiar with this problem and what I can do to treat these plants. Thanks so much, Connie

I have no experience with this myself. How big are these spots? Do you have a picture by any chance? Would be helpful to others with more experience with these things to see it and to those of us that don't also for future reference. Until you hear from one of the more experienced check out the link I am providing below. Very informative. Good luck.
