African Violets

When is it time to let them go

I have a couple of AVs' that are getting long in the tooth . They were my first and would be great examples of "what not to do for beginners" . They are lop sided , twisted necks , over sized pots etc; etc; . After much studying I have corrected my mistakes .

I have dropped leaves from them and now have new , young , healthy , flowering , beautiful plants . But these were two of my first and I just feel bad for getting rid of them but I need to make room for newer , healthier , properly cared for plants .

Hi you could always cut the neck and reroot them, trim away the old leaves and get them good as new, and then if you really want to yo could give them to a friend or a nursing home. That way you get the added satisfaction of shearing. ( I just started with my collection) and loving every moment of it. :). VELLEtA

a lot that no longer fit my criteria. j

color, size, picky care, refuse to bloom, would not wick, were like that plant in little shop of horrors ... FEED ME?
