I don't use tea often but have done. It acts as a fertilizer. I've heard of people who pour flat coke down into plants for the sugar content.

I presume that we are talking about violets grown in a real soil with bacteria that can utilize organics and convert them into usable to plants compounds. I am not sure that anything could be used out of sugar C12H22O11 - except feeding soil organisms.

Nowdays the most accepted way is growing AVs in soilless mix which is even not sterile - but not really much populated. So I am thinking that tea will do not harm, but sugar can be bad.

PS I think flat coke - it is Jerry Baker's way of stimulating soil bacteria in your lawn. Whatever works!
